I cant wait to get my Goobbue ^^
Stop right there, I have been a FF fanboi since before I entered kindergarten. The only video game I played for about 5 yrs of my life was FFIV. And, I am completely open to change. As ar as we know, Eorzea =\= Vana'diel. So, there could be a perfectly legit reason as to why Gobbue's are mountable. The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.
Those of us who are long time FF fans feel that the game needs to get the core concepts right before it should attempt any radical changes to things. And when it does add new things, there needs to be a proper explanation and integration into the world in order to maintain the quality that the series has generally had. Artistic integrity, Good Storylines, and faithfulness to the established mythos of the franchise are very important to us.
Now, as for the Ul'dah opening, I wouldn't really use that as a reference since, they were using that magic ring to control it and the Gobbue's we are getting don't.
There will be lore that will justify this, we just have to wait for it.
Sorry but I'm a long time FF fan, Ive been playing these games since i was a kid. And yes, they've put out some srsly whack-a-doodle, "WTF?" shit over the years and sometimes I get it, sometimes I dont. The one thing I have learned with FF games is to never expect the same game twice. I say just let go and let Gobbue. The dividing line on these mounts falls between those who have been long time fans of the FF series and want to see this game be more 'Final Fantasy', and those who are just fans of MMOs in general, and want to their favorite features from other MMOs brought into this one.

Gath will enjoy his Goobbue Chunk and enjoys as he flails around like a retard of which Gath approves of.
Gath's 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
I'm going to enjoy looking like a sultan of awesome on my goobue
Hey gang, wanted to drop in a few tidbits about the impending release of the Goobbue mount! In regards to how to obtain the mount, it's going involve speaking with an NPC with a character above level 30 which will then give you an item to call the Goobbue.
Now as to whether or not the Goobbue will have its own music... it seems like the sound team has created a brand new song for it!We have a comment below from Soken (from the sound team) about his inspiration for the song.
It's precisely this information that I would love to hear more about. The connections made in the sentiment, combined with the eventual release of the music, reach beyond the borders of communication through language. Updates on the games condition are expected, yet nuggets of information like this are truly treasures that can be respected beyond the confines of XIV, especially that last part. The musician's concept is literally represented in the closing moments of the video that was posted and having little commentaries like this just enhance the experience in my opinion. I think it would be nice to juxtapose this quote with the video itself but considering it was released as a cannon piece of XIV's lore I could understand not including it with the video. Possibly include it in the description on youtube maybe? I don't know.A huge gray bulk of a giant that grazes amidst a vast grass field.
It seems like a vicious beast, but is really super clumsy with a lot of strength.
This is pretty much a Goobbue, right? At least this is my personal take on it!
My image is of players zipping around a vast wilderness on the back of this the gigantic and loveable beast.
(The "zipping around" is completely different than the zipping around on the back of a chocobo, though.)
The most striking image is that of the back of a friendly Goobbue, standing motionless in a grass field that is painted with the sunset. I hope you're all excited to hear the finished song!
Thanks Matt.

I hope Square doesn't listen to all those complaining, they don't represent all of us.
For those complaining, the solution is REALLY simple, don't get the Goobbue mount and save your whining for your momma and/or therapists. As for me, and I'm very sure a ton of other people, bring on the mounts, make as many as you want, I'll ride them all.
I swear, some people show no gratitude. I thank you Square for working extreme overtime and giving us what you've given us in the last year and I can only imagine how bad ass 2.0 will be. And to those saying, bring on more content, there's nothing to do! Go get all the jobs (including non-battle jobs) capped, do every quest/mission/leve, get every untradable piece of gear in the entire game, max out your seals, make 2 more characters to see the early town storyline for every town, get all achievements done. If you have all of that done, then you spend WAY too much time on the game and you need to get some sort of life, cause your ass has been in front of your pc playing this game for way too many hours per day. Try dating someone in RL, then maybe you won't spend every free second on this game, or play FFXI along with this game like us true fans do. Nobody can make the claim that they've done everything there is to do in FFXI unless they have every relic weapon.
So, like I said Square, ignore all the crybabies, the rest of us are grateful for the new mount and the fact the game is MUCH better than it was a year ago.
Well roughly 1/3 of the players don't like it from an forum poll, and that's a significant portion of people opposed to a gift.
If 33% of the paying players were opposed to a freebie, (and I assure that you most of them have issues with the WAY it is implemented) I'd be a bit concerned from a dev's perspective and try to figure out how to fix it.
