I mean passive aggressive condescending attitude towards any outsider is pretty horrible, and the hypocricy on "why we are better and everyone else is bad" is just absolutely ridiculous sentiment. Wow refugees ruin the community or this or that ruins the community. What people don't realize that it was ruined the very moment the game went online. It's different kind of toxicity from games like wow and such where people just outright tell you are shit, here they look at you, give you snide remarks and passive aggressive comments implying you are shit, just not saying it directly, but the message is excactly the same. Anyone who claims otherwise is deluded.

I have played other games, this game is equally as toxic as the rest , its the lies that people tell that "the community is so great uwu owo" that is the big problem. Pretending its not cancerous doesn't make it not cancerous.

World is not a set of 1 and 0.
Certain games communities are different to each other, some games has it a lot worse than others due to the game mechanics that are generating more emotional distress.
All these games are online and they are played by different people, each game is different with different set of rules which pulls in people with certain characteristics.
Competetive games are worst, because they pull people who are try harding for results, FFXIV by no means is not a competetive game and you simply cannot put the equal sign between FFXIV community and for example CS go or any moba game for instance.
Same with games that are made for older audience, will pull in a more mature players than for example fortnite.
Communities across different games are different, and FFXIV is nowhere near the worst community like you are stating, its overexageration and i guess you visit one subreddit quite too often.

I agree on your sentiment here, but this is just in my experience of over 20 years of online gaming and I do firmly believe what I said, for the reasons I have stated. No other community is like this, which is also true, it is unique thats for sure!

Also, the thing is, its multiplayer, people are bound to clash becuase of different ideas and thoughts, but just cause a game doesn't have a competitive aspect, doesn't mean people are instantly nice and friendly and everything is just marshmallows and rainbows.

As for the subreddit, it does kinda coin the greatness of the community doesn't it! Thats the meme and the lie we tell each other before going to bed!

SE -ACTUALLY- disciplines people in this game and is NOT afraid to suspend or ban an account. When you encounter people that are toxic like this, DO report them. I know that a lot of folks in this community just like to move on and ignore toxic behavior but let me tell you: That is EXACTLY why we have toxic people. DO NOT just put up with it, ignore them and move on. Report them so that toxic player's are given warnings, suspensions and/or bans. It helps keep the community friendly. Once they start getting away with it, it will start happening more and more until it's out of control.

Take action when you see things like this.

I’m regards to raider toxicity honestly I’ve seen more on the forums/Reddit than I have actually seen in game, maybe into the circles I hang in but most savage raiders I know are generally kind and willing to help out and even point out where I need to improve in a humble, kind way, the “you all dead dead weight, uninstall the game!” Crap I’ve only rarely seen in game, maybe since I started back in heavensward? I generally don’t join PFs for savage/extremes so maybe I’m missing a lot of that, but most of that toxicity I’ve seen is limited to a vocal minority on Reddit and the forums

It's a mixed bag for literally everyone's experiences.
Even when Gilg and Balmung was still combined and had all these people
sitting in a single center, I've rarely had a complete, down right horror from any player here.
But, as Angellos said, if people are acting up. Report! SE does talk to them about it.
The GM's are awesome. I talked to two of them before. People will learn to stop being jerks
once they get a warning, so they won't risk getting their entire paid account banned.

Never noticed any toxicity tbh, but on the other hand i try not to waste peoples time so maybe thats why.
If anything FXIV got the most friendly and helpful community by a long-shot out of all the "big" MMORPG's.

Judging by those who cry in game and in forums the problem doesn't seem seem to be "toxicity" but entitlement of some players.

"They should let everyone know when a hunt spawn."
"They should wait for wait for everyone before pulling a hunt."
"They should carry everyone through a dungeon/raid despite being dead weight."
"They should not kick someone cause of their performance/DPS."

Sometimes, the toxic players are the ones doing the reporting, and they don't belong to any partucular group. Working things out is better than simply reporting, when plausible.
