Is it me or has the community gotten worse...

My roulletes have been filled with healers not touching damage buttons, dps not touching aoe, people not bothering to learn their jobs, and getting angry when you try to help.

Same here. My sis is a new player and completely new to tanking. Being a tank main for the last 3-4 years, I've been guiding her through and giving her tips. She has the idea downpat but is still getting used to the controls and such. She uses a controller and fumbles over the controls sometimes but as I stated before, she's completely new.

We went through Sastasha last night for the first time last night. We got teamed up with a Conjurer and a Thaumaturge, I played RDM and my sis is a Marauder. We get to the first room were the first key drops, my sis dies due to the healer not healing. We take out the remaining mobs, the healer doesn't raise and the BLM runs ahead pulling enemies followed by the healer who's DPSing. She rezzes, we continue the dungeon eventually reaching the final boss. NO ONE even bothers with the bubbles.

After we finish, the BLM goes, "jesus christ. Thank God that's over." smh.

I told her not to worry about people like that. She did well, she pulled enemies and held aggro even after the thaumaturge kept running ahead. She used her cooldowns as much as she could. She seemed kind of frustrated but I kept assuring her that's not how most runs go and unfortunately at lower levels, you'll run into idiots moreso who don't know how the game works. I won't say the WHOLE community is toxic though but there are a lot of newcomers who don't take the time to really learn how the game works because the have the idea that this is just like any other MMO and get mad at any criticism.

If anyone dares to say they liked Eureka or that they don't think a certain lore breaking addition should be made to the game, that person is referred to as a troll on these forums. Imagine an individual receiving replies by numerous people all saying the exact same thing and becoming quite nasty in the process. Imagine the repliers making themselves into victims as well. It is worse here than in game, which is why I rarely post here. I won't even post in the reddit. You are more likely to find real advice and learn more on the alternative reddit, which is only there for the memes and jokes.

I am going to guess a small but very active percentage of players are "unique". Who in their right mind sends gifts to game developers? They are a little to invested in this game world. Which is probably why they are so abusive about changes.



If I was more energetic the game has a small change that was anti-lore. The reason given for frontline not having freelancer was originally lore(which i doubt). But it was stated, and they did change it.

And your post and other previous state the following things:

1. People wouldn't have to mention it, if others actually bothered to improve AKA care about teamwork.
2. See 1. I already self improved but unfortunately duties depend on the performance of the whole group, not just mine
3. Telling someone they're bad isn't harassment. It's stating a fact. Plus wouldn't have to tell them that if they had an ounce of selflessness on their body, and bothered to pull their weight.
4. You can't dismiss my point by saying I'm not interested in teamwork, when the people I'm talking about aren't interested in it the first place. Why so much coddling and catering to them is what puzzles me and many others.
5. You and others don't care about clearing duties and providing a good experience for the whole group. Just your own.
6. You and others only care about your own personal feelings and not those of the rest of the group.
7. What you call harassment is only what the same thing you are doing here: people complaining that certain players are hurting their game experience.

Why do people keep telling me and others to help someone improve when that person doesn't seek out help nor does research to improve in the first place? Do you think people like me just got lucky and found someone to help me out, or I just did my own homework and got to where I am through my own efforts?

Look at how mad this community gets when you ask them to do bare minimums like read tool tips or learn a rotation instead of spamming random buttons. It's quite sad they choose to scapegoat FFLogs and the savage/ultimate community instead of wanting to improve on their own numbers.

...I ignored them, but since I pointed out that I almost never see these people, i felt it only fair to let you know that I saw this uncommon event. I think most other people ignored them too, and we cleared no problem.

We're all using personal anecdotes to try to quantify the amount of toxicity within an entire community, in order to paint that entire community as either 'toxic' or 'not toxic' to suit our own personal agenda against that community, based on whether we identify as a part of that community or not...

The most toxic thing I see in this topic... is people calling different communities toxic... which they wouldn't be doing if this topic was never made.
All this topic is doing is pitting those who identify as a part of this community, against those who don't.

This I think is the real irony. If the community is toxic, then everyone who posts here is also toxic. But I dont think thats the intention of some of these posts. The vibe I get is "All these people are toxic, except me."

I mean how are we gonna break this down? Are you toxic if youve ever been toxic? Are you toxic if you hold certain opinions about raiding or mentors? Are you toxic simply because you stay quiet in dungeons or dont interact?

Frankly, most everyone (if not everyone) whos played this game longer than a few months has behaved poorly at some point in time. No one is a saint, we all have sins, and Im of hte mindset that defining people only by poor behavior here and there as being toxic is not conducive to a good play environment. Villifying people because they do harder content or know the ins and outs of a game isnt also good for a community. Some of the posts here behave much like the people theyre anecdotally berating. Its a wierd form of elitism. "Oh youre a raider so youre probably toxic, but since Im not, I am a good little boy/girl."

Way I see it, if you have an opinion about groups of people, fine. Have that opinion. But dont be pre-judging individuals by the opinion you hold of the group. Afford everyone the courtesy to atleast either prove whether or not they fit the mold.

I've always encountered some pleasant folks happy to teach people how to do various raid mechanics in Shadowbringers.

I agree, you can't assume that an entire community is toxic just because a few people, who sometimes happen to be the ones who raise the most hell and yell the loudest, are mean to others. You also shouldn't presume an individual is toxic just because of one or two incidents.

The community is just as bad as it always has been, I am of the opinion that this games community is the worst online community out there. It pretends that its so good, so happy and non-toxic, when its actually full of toxicicty in form of casually just hating everyone who comes from some place else, or doesn't like the things the general community likes. And then it gets all high and mighty in "OOOH we are so good, everyone else is shit though, don't come and ruin OUR community with YOUR toxicity."

Nothing is worse than toxic casual who doesn't know how toxic they really are...
