You won't see any Viis for some time if carefully read the quest line. Yes, we saw a male(Don't need spoiler for it, all through this thread) in a sense, but from what they were saying, the men are about all wiped out due to the flood, so even seeing one was a miracle. As for why no children around, you don't see them anywhere in FFXIV hardly lol. So, maybe there are kids bouncing around somewhere hidden, who knows. Lyna and the others are what are outcast, not born outside the clans there but left. But what is confusing is they call her a Viera when she should be a Viis in the wiki, odd that.

Who knows though, maybe there's a shard where men are abundant and female are rare, but for now the men are no where in the source or the shard of light.

I know that we wont see them, my point was more: Why dont they try to create more babies? The quest with the baby girl states that this is the first one in quite some time which then makes sense why we dont see children running around. It was just too long ago that a child was born. Which then begs the question: Have they in general a very bad birth rate or pregancy cycle or are the males just not in the mood even though barely any male still exist.

This is actually a really good question because it doesn't make sense. Every Viera you meet who can talk has mentioned being born or were around when the flood happened and went to originally escape it. Most of those in the vii village now were the children that survived as the elders died protecting their young. It's likely that the males who are alive now are from the same stock, they were originally part of the children who survived the flood. So what happened where the handful of confirmed males to be alive in the Rat'tika don't wish to father children. Part of me thinks that their own survival isn't seen as important as doing their sacred duty. Now that those things have calmed down then the males probably have more time to visit the villages and not constantly be on patrol like they seem to be now. But even then, it takes more than a handful of men to repopulate. I guess it's a good thing they live for 300+ years.

It's hard to really say. Maybe the men are scared of the women, a physiological thing. Maybe the women aren't very fertile or the men's seed isn't strong etc. Possibly even certain seasons or events have to happen for breeding to even happen, who knows. The great many possibilities are vast and unknown until Square finally says/does something. For now, we just have conjecture, debate, talk, logic, reasoning and brains burning in thought.
