Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

They haven't completed the just released two new genders. It's pretty obvious to me that they won't begin to consider making new ones until those are near completion and relative to head gear and hair there appears to still be a lot to do. I think anyone expecting new genders for 6.0 is being optimistic assuming they even make the decision to make them. The new genders would require even more work given all the new gear being released in 5.0.

I'm not personally opposed to limited races which do not include everything previously such as hair for Viera. Although I hope we get many of the older styles and especially those that were paid for and awarded in game with considerable effort after all is said and done I'm very happy to have them even if we don't get all of what we would like.

If they do elect to include missing genders for 6.0 I hope the community is prepared to have them be far from complete.

Why is it when people bring about lore breaking, that car gets mentioned. We have litirally magitek space shipfleets that shoot plasma balls, tanks and other machines. We know Cid saw the car and made a "copy" of it useing garlond technology. As for the kiddie pool, again, the game has things in it that could make haveing said pool feasible. Same with the weird frog suit. Like, all of these items could fit lore wise, so is it only mentioned because of how outlandish they are or what?

The argument and the Rebuttal is...."If THIS can exist, why can't male Viera?"
That and when Lore Comes up, people bring Up 1.0 and how the Roe females and Miqo's Males formerly had lore that Similarly suggests The genders couldn't exist/be playable...but then 2.0 the lore got changed to include them. "If that can happen to them, Why Not Male Viera?"

There are other examples of lore inconsistencies is the major point I think, using the viera's lore as an ironclad reason why they aren't included is an innately flawed argument is all. There can't ever be more than a few white mages based on lore, very few dragoons in lore, even some of the weapons you use(a lot of katana's) are very special and would have only at most one or two copies but anyone anywhere can have them.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with these elements, as someone who roleplay's I tend see them as quirky parts of whatever roleplay I'm involved with with friends. I think in general this game's lore isn't something meant to be taken too seriously at face value outside of the game's story. It's one of the charms of XIV and gives it a very 'game-y' feel that I think a lot of game's miss nowadays, especially other MMO's that sort of lack the same quirk and charm XIV's world does. It could just be my bias as an FF fan but seeing a lot of the nods to the older series and even other game's like einhander and the MH collab are delightful.

That being said I think the reasons given for the missing genders by the devs are reasonable and valid, I do hope they're added, and I believe they're at least future proofing and fixing some of the issues they've said they have with the character creation in the game and model quality, but I will of course understand if they never come out. I'll enjoy the game all the same I believe as long as no glaring issues with gameplay comes up that would ruin my gaming experience.

Rathalos and Regalia are a bit of a stretch to fit into the game
Even with magitek steam punk stuff regalia is extremely different compared to everything in this game

That said lore was not the reason male viera and female hroth are left out and it will never be the reason devs will not include them

The lore behind it is to do with an otherworldly traveler - like it or not the game world is connected to other FF worlds. I agree it’s somewhat of a stretch to pass it off as magitek but then who but a Garlean would even know?

It’s not so much that there’s inconsistencies as it is that canonically there is but one WoL protagonist and of course their adventuring buddies. RP wise I think it’s acceptable to bend the rules a little in non critical areas of the lore.

Lore is a bad one in this case because we already know that they exist. And as soon as something exists, its not that big of a stretch to believe that one individual of the whole group decided to leave their home to save the world.

I do wanna talk about about the lore that shadowbringer gave about the Viis.

So in the sidequests they mention that a male killed the beast and helped a female but went out of sight because the WoL came. There is also a side quest where we have to get things for a newborn baby, which is seemingly something that has not happend for a time. And we also learn that there are maybe a handful of males left thanks to the flood and the sineaters..

So my question is: Why are they not trying to make more babies? I know that they get older than most races but would their cycle really be that much worse?

The females might not even have much of a problem because we do know that other Viis are born outside the village (Lyna for example) thus either those are all males that left, or they can reproduce with other races...but for the males this situation is very bad. They are already less because of the low birthrate and then they have a harsher life and the flood happened too..wouldnt it make more sense for them to try and make more babies thus increasing the chance to have more males too.

I mean even if they have longer birth cycles they should still have way more children running around..but seemingly that one baby girl is the first birth in quite some time..when other races (or humans) can give birth every year or two then they should be at least be able to give birth every five to ten years?

What are your thoughts? (I know that I might be overthinking it but maybe this gives us more to talk about)
