I demand dynamic content that is completely static, always available, and tailored specifically to me. You know, something like guildleves which I absolutely have always hated with a deep passion.

    Sincerely,

They're not essential events, and for the most part you can glean what's going on from the NPCs along with the new quests that come up in each patch, which seem to have relevance to the current state of the storyline.

dynamic content that is completely static
    I thought it was funny

i hope they add more dynamic events like the ones that Guild Wars has, but with the FFXIV touch and yes, random so the world feels more lively like you dont know what to expect everytime you log in

I agree, more random events all over the world.

Yes, it sucks when you miss something but it isn't like they are handing out Kirin's Osode at the end. I'm frustrated I've missed the 1.20 ones so far but I haven't been on much lately and that is MY problem.

This is true, but it's also random events relating to the storyline, not something you go to an NPC with a ! over their head to initiate, it's a live event so you just have to actually catch it. It's the same deal with the Grand Company stuff people are complaining about, you were strictly told each Grand Company won't be completely different but they have different motives which means different perspectives on the overall story, so you simply can't experience anything -- A good MMORPG will let you experience everything in the route you choose because it means they actually cared for the detail of the game's storyline for example -- If the storyline dictates that there's someone going around spouting off on the apocalypse and spawning a rift to encounter someone, do you think it actually makes sense for the NPC to be there with no interaction, but every 4 minutes he'll do so? Or does it make more sense for it to just spontaneously happen?

Not really -- I think a lot of people truly forgot what MMORPGs were; The world is constantly changing and evolving and while you're nice and comfortable in your bed -- That's the whole idea of "Live", if you can't experience sure it sucks but that's what MMOs are about, sometimes you simply can't experience every single thing.

    Exactly.

Put it on timer and it will become more or less a behest with different mobs, which people hardly do nowadays.

Same could be said about those GMs that discuss lore here and there, you feel something special is going on when this happens

I could not disagree with you more. The purpose of an MMO is to have an RPG with so much content that you can never finish it. But it is supposed to be, in theory, possible to do everything eventually. With live events like these, players are not missing out on any kind of advantageous reward, so it is ok for the event to end. The problem, however, is that these events are So rare and So random that 90% of the player base doesn't even know they are happening.

There is no in game announcement of the events commencement, with the occasional exception for a 5 yalm radial NPCs /say.

    and
They only happen twice a day, at most, and in some cases twice a WEEK.

This is just absurd. This game is played around the entire world in nearly every time zone. there is no excuse for these events happening Once in a 24 hour period let alone once in a 84 hour period.

Live events are all well and good. But when you unfairly exclude the majority of your player base,by making something so exceptionally rare, you are alienating people.

At the bare minimum, the NPCs that talk about these events should be using /shout.

It is a little like camping a long spawn NM you probably haven't even heard of... That might just stop re-spawning completely after a few weeks. I will be pretty sad if I don't see them all and get any related achievements :'(

I'm betting you disagree because you fall into the category of players who never experienced MMORPGs before the "big bang" of casualized MMOs hit the market. MUDs/MMORPGs were infact designed so the world itself is always constantly changing even if you aren't playing, that was the beauty of playing an online rpg versus a static offline RPG. Your offline RPG will be the same no matter how many times you touch it, your online RPG will be different even when you're NOT touching.

The purpose of an MMO is to have an RPG with so much content that you can never finish it.
This is subjective and personal opinion, because the purpose of MUDs > MMOs were to play with other people and experience a vast dynamic world rather than a a-b game. You can create offline games with "so much content that you can never finish it."

By the way, no MMO today has done this, thus that clearly isn't the purpose of an MMO.

This works a lot of ways, since sometimes said NM could spawn when you least expect it versus trying to camp it and never see it.
