This is true, but it's also random events relating to the storyline, not something you go to an NPC with a ! over their head to initiate, it's a live event so you just have to actually catch it. It's the same deal with the Grand Company stuff people are complaining about, you were strictly told each Grand Company won't be completely different but they have different motives which means different perspectives on the overall story, so you simply can't experience anything -- A good MMORPG will let you experience everything in the route you choose because it means they actually cared for the detail of the game's storyline for example -- If the storyline dictates that there's someone going around spouting off on the apocalypse and spawning a rift to encounter someone, do you think it actually makes sense for the NPC to be there with no interaction, but every 4 minutes he'll do so? Or does it make more sense for it to just spontaneously happen?

Not really -- I think a lot of people truly forgot what MMORPGs were; The world is constantly changing and evolving and while you're nice and comfortable in your bed -- That's the whole idea of "Live", if you can't experience sure it sucks but that's what MMOs are about, sometimes you simply can't experience every single thing.
