First week of 5.05, healer performance for E4S

Probably not the place for this particular topic, and I'm no healer main anyway, or high end player, or anything of the sort. But. Couldn't it be argued that the old cards really just amounted to "some damage" after a fashion? More crits, faster attacks, damage, defense leading to less healing leading to more personal damage. New system just dumps the middle ground and delivers the damage itself.

The new cards are straight damage buffs. No other changes (obviously). The old cards gave you a CHOICE. Do you want to throw this arrow on that BLM and make them blast faster. Or do you want to throw this Arrow on yourself or your co-healer and let them throw out heals faster (as needed). Do you want to throw this Spear on that BRD/MNK and let them go off with crits. Or do you want to RR for double the duration on the next card?

Those people who were balance fishing were only looking for straight optimization and probably groups so well tuned that they didn't need a ewer to restore a dead caster's mp or they didn't need a Bole to help the tank (or another non-optimized player) survive a hit.

Worth noting that this AST data is for high tiered players. I expect the skill to dps ratio to be pretty steep in the sense that it's a bit of an all or nothing. You either play AST really well and get decent numbers or you're better off chilling on whm as a half ass job there will probably outperform a decent AST parse.

At current out of 1923 healer E4S parses AST only makes up 63 of those, or 3.2% of all healer parses... at all levels. E3S AST makes up 7.1% of all Parses (562 out of 7914). E2S is 8.8% (1485 out of 16709). E1S is 13.3% (3871 out of 28943).

Outside of people desiring to pad their own numbers at the cost of the raid group AST is being dumped the higher up you go.

Anyone who cleared E4S week one is not "all levels". I'd expect these players to at least be purple parsers (even the week one grey parses).

So this is a sample of as at 6th.Aug, the numbers of each job who have successfully killed E4S at 75th precentile, which is the highest raid at the latest version of 5.05.

The data is from FF logs.com, which does not represent the whole population.

But still, the issue is in the front, while SCHs have 468 kills, WHMs have 447 kills, ASTs have 34 kills. (Sorry for Nin and Sam too, but this is a healer discussion topic)

Maybe, just maybe, the number of ASTs will increase in the next few weeks if their utility card buffs are proved to be worthy, let's hope...

And SE, this is the healer balance you promised to deliver at the cost of not releasing a new healer job since 3.0. Welldone.

This is about how it was for me. Absolutely loved AST and now I have no interest in it because of the changes to the card system.
