Rather than going into a lengthy and pointless debate about whether or not it's okay to parse, there is something else I would really like to say.

Obtaining a gaming PC is an art in itself, and the stereotype of them being insanely expensive isn't necessarily true if you don't want it to be.

A current gen console goes for, at most, $300, give or take. Now, buying a gaming computer that is already built (like from a store or something) is just asking to pay a boatload of money. The ones from retail stores are the worst offenders, but small-time shops also sell overpriced goods. Most of the time, the reason it's so expensive is because there's all sorts of stuff you don't need.

At its core, a PC is ram, a cpu, a gpu, a motherboard, a psu, a tower, a storage drive, and an operating system. Towers are just hunks of metal, so you can use them from pretty much anywhere as long as the components fit. There are ways to get Windows 10 for free without piracy, and unlike previous versions of windows, it isn't as strict about not being activated. You can continue to use it even when it's not activated, but there will be a watermark on the screen.

Considering all that, my current PC (the one I'm typing on right now) cost me about $350 to build, and I can run any game I throw at it.

$350 (USD) for a PC that can play "any game you throw at it?" No one is going to buy that for a second. If you Google PC Gaming 2019 best budget card, you are probably going to find the Radeon RX 570 card, which is going to run you anywhere from $150 to $200. Similarly, budget CPUs are going to run in the same price range. So, at best, you're already at $300 for the GPU and CPU, leaving $50 for Motherboard, RAM, PSU, HDD, tower, OS, and peripherals? Please. And this is BUDGET. Which, even if it runs any "game you throw at it," will run most of it not very well.

Now a console? PS4 Slim will cost you $299 and it has everything you need to run it (including the only mandatory peripheral). It's not even close.

To the larger topic at hand, S-E really needs to address the parser on PC but not PS4. It's disturbing that they are OK with giving PC players more tools than PS4 players. Either both get parsers or neither does.

Sure, my PC is not some extraordinary Nasa-grade machine, but whenever a new AAA game is released on Steam, I can run it at 60 FPS no problems. Sometimes I have to do some tweaking, yes. Some games speed up by a lot when I disable antialiasing, for example. But my experience is, at minimum, on-par with any current gen console, and I get all the freedom of a PC to boot.

Well, whatever. I was just trying to help.

You may not be lying about what you paid at the time of your purchase, but in 2019—which any prospective PC gamer would be building in—budget components absolutely eviscerate your budget. So, to go around and say, "Hey, you can build a great PC for $350 USD," is incredibly irresponsible of you. The fact is, you cannot build a budget PC that will run AAA games at 60 FPS, in 2019, at a $350 budget.

I built this PC roughly a year and a half ago. I dunno, maybe the prices have gone up a bit. But still, it's about building a PC intelligently, which means shopping for the parts intelligently. Why spend $150 on a GPU when you can look harder and get a 1070 GTX for $100? Yeah, it's pretty obvious that you're going to pay through the nose if you go to the "usual places" for parts. But one of the things that makes parts so great is that you can get them from anywhere.

Do you really think you can get a GTX 1070 for $100? This is the issue, right here. The MSRP for a GTX 1070 is $379 USD. That $100 USD won't even cover the manufacturing cost. No one is going to sell you a $379 card for $100.

edit: Even if you can get a GTX 1070 for a quarter of the MSRP, you're still going ridiculously over budget.

    Yes.

Anyway, you don't need to believe me. I said what I had to say, and I've learned my lesson from dealing with this forum - prolonged exchanges don't end well here.

    Have a nice day.

I think he bought the parts used.
It is possible to get them that cheap. Probably some crypto miner wanting to ditch his tortured card.

Budget on PC doesnt mean the cheapest stuff you could buy, but best price to performance ratio you could build with.
A decent PC that will run this game at 60+ fps will cost you about 600$, and that one will deliver.

i have to disagree with you there. new technologies have rolled in and aren't fully developed upon yet. in fact, this is probably the worst time to build any enthusiast level high-end gaming machine. ( unless you have that kind of cash, and are certain of your enthusiasm ) you can consider the new RTX cards out from Nvidia basically a beta series of cards. ( they are actually just GTX 10-series cards, but revamped/upgraded. ) and then we are still waiting for Intel, if you buy Intel, to pick back up with AMD. ( Intel has been making a lot of great strides in terms of software, but we are still waiting for them to respond to AMD's latest releases. this always goes on between AMD and Intel, but both companies tend to always meet or exceed expectations. ) if anyone is looking to spend big bucks on a PC, i would totally hold off. as far as a budget/relatively high-end machine goes with a GTX 10-series? it is solid to go for that right now, but i wouldn't expect to age very gracefully.
