I was a little surprised by the changes as well, disappointing. I didn't expect big changes but I was wondering if we'd get some temporary potency boosts to offset the clunkiness of the rotation.

My assumption or maybe wishful thinking is that they plan a bigger rework for the class and don't want to change it until then. Still it's a long time to wait and I think most savage players are making it clear that how they feel about the class and the issues. As a serious casual summoner who tries to maximize efficiency I'm definitely feeling the pinch as well. Though I feel very sorry for my fellow summoners who have to take this current rotation into savage.

I will say the changes they did make are welcome. I hope this fixes the problem I've had over time of hardcasting dots and having bane whiff one of them. I usually cast something after bio to make sure the dots have time to take but it was annoying.

SE please fix the issues with summoner. We love our class and want to play it.

Even if they're planning on a big change for 5.1, they could've at least thrown out some helpful adjustments to SMN right now to help it for savage raids, even potency increases would've been enough because it's undertuned imo. The changes it got is barely relevant, let alone fixed anything, that it's insulting.

But yes, yet *again* SMN needs an overhaul...
Eh, from a development standpoint band aids aren't a good idea IF you have something akin to a complete overhaul in mind. If what they're working on for the Summoner is based on the classes current metrics, then throwing out adjustments that in no way reflect the big picture just complicates things. I do think they could at least offer some reassurance that the class is being worked on, though; but that's probably assumed since this is an MMO.

Believe it or not, Summoner is actually not in a bad position. If a class is bad you don't want it to be full of meh issues that are easy to procrastinate on; you want it to be a disaster.

    Pathetic, just as expected.

Who cares about the egi CD change, and the dot change is just them fixing a glitch.

I'll have to disagree there. Arguably SMN is the least desirable caster out of the three now with RDM's MP issues alleviated (yay more raises I guess) and its party buff still better than SMN's, while BLM completely overshadows both of them.

Yes, all jobs are still viable even with the issues so whatever, things like that, but we can't ignore those issues either. SMN does have big problems already talked about to death on both the english and japanese forums which should convince you that it's actually in a bad place.

No doubt, I'm mainly just saying the summoner is in a good place because it's problems are numerous and difficult to ignore. I've played MMO's a lot in the past and have seen many mediocre classes get overlooked for years, simply because they weren't THAT bad. In the position Summoner is in I'd say it's all but guaranteed to get addressed relatively soon.

I'm kinda thinking it may be a resources issue. The band aid fixes are just trying to hold things over until they've actually found the time for the overhaul. Expansion has launched, raids and savage are running, now may be the time when they can finally focus on making actual improvements, supposing they intend for them by 5.1. But it also wouldn't surprise me if they continue with bad "fixes" until 6.0.

Hahah I completely agree, 500 IQ post imo.

The worst thing that can happen to a class is to be "passable", because if they can procrastinate and not work on it, they will do just that.
