If you suggest improvement to anything regarding FFXIV, the hardcore fanboy playerbase will shut you down and say "the game is not for you."

WoW did not die because unbalanced or whatever, it died because people got tired of it being t he same thing every expansion. Its combat didn't become more modern and its graphics remained stale. Just like WoW, FFXIV refuse to improve, it's going to slowly die as games with better combat, graphics, and content come out, just like WoW.
Why are you even here tho? I mean if you don't enjoy the game that's fine but other people have different taste hence "this game is not for you" It doesn't have to change to your liking when it does fit the taste of many others. Your opinion isn't the only one that matters. Just because you think certain things would be improvements doesn't mean others think the same. Save yourself and us the time by sticking around being a negative person. Leave, play something else, have fun while we have it with this game.

Because I pay the same amount of money you do to play this game. It's my right to say what I think would be improvements. Right back at you, if you don't like change, feel free to leave.

But the combat won't change and you have to accept that, instead you keep whining about it online. Like I get it you pay for this game just to cry about how you don't like how it plays. That's one of the most pathetic things I've read for a long time. I'm not saying you can't suggest what you would like in the game but an adult should come to terms with what is realistic and what is not.

I've played action mmos. The "ooooo shiny" factor wore off after a month or so, and I found the bosses and encounters more boring, and the combat got just as same after awhile. Tera was one that got old pretty quickly.

Also, I was under the impression that the reason wow is failing isn't because it hasn't changed, but because it's changed too much.

I've been playing since ARR beta - so about 6 years by now - and I actually appericiate the game for staying the same as its core!
I like the general way the combat works and I especially like that I dont need to re-learn the whole game every two years (assuming they'd completly change the combat-system etc. with each expansion).

Everything can get boring after a while, but thats why I play different games in between or at the same time. But I always like to return "home" and find that I still know how my job works and that with one job down its easy to identify how similar jobs might play - I main a paladin and tonight I set up my level 70 warrior to be the next job I'll take to 80. While putting the skills on my hotbar I could identify which ones I'll use in certain situations instead of the paladin-version which is going to make it much more pleasent to level warrior. But at the same time it didnt seem like just a new skin, but rather a different type of flavour without changing the base-recipe. And I honestly like that, because it allows me to pick things up without investing every waking hour into the game.
Dont get me wrong - I still invest a lot of time into the game and enjoy it, but its nice not to have the feeling that its absolutly hopeless or that you cant leave the game for a few weeks...

At the end of the day I can only say that I liked the basic gameplay back in ARR because its a kind of gameplay I enjoy (or learned to enjoy back then...) - and I still enjoy it today. I dont want this basic gameplay to change and I dont understand why people seem to request that at times and seem to want FFXIV turn into a completly different type of game. The logic there escapes me. If I want to play something that is extremly different from FFXIV, I pick up a different game from a different genre.

I enjoy this game a lot and I get the idea of it being repetitious. (Fun fact, I've counted 3 "pick some flowers" quests in ShB so far).
If you've been playing pretty consistently since ARR, You might just be a bit burnt out. You start to notice certain patterns a lot easier when you engage in a media for long enough.
Maybe you just need a break with something completely different for awhile? That way maybe noticing the patterns will be less glaring.

It seems unlikely that patterns and repetition will change as it's much easier to create content on a schedule with a formula. But since you love the game, maybe a break will help keep you around despite how you feel about it now.

The combat, jobs and general lack of innovation surrounding them is feeling pretty stifling at this point. When you boil the jobs down, many of them feel like clones or reskins with no customisation or innovation. Obviously it’s an MMO and that dictates how much or little they can really experiment without making jobs unbalanced, but they err so much on the side of familiarity It’s stifling. It just feeling so boring now and it’s really detracting from the game experience for me.

I’m struggling more and more to enjoy the jobs as the game gets older, what do you guys think?
Sounds like you need a break from the game. When I start feeling like I need to step away for whatever reason, and it happens usually every 3 to 6 months for me, I'll take a break for a couple months and play other games in my backlog.

It's complicated. WoW had to change because the market for MMOs is so much different than when WoW was first released back in ... 2006? You have to remember that before WoW most MMOs were sandboxes, and WoW started that heavy transition from predominantly sandbox gameplay to themepark gameplay. So there was a bunch of stuff in vanilla WoW that needed to change. Also just QoL improvements. There were no quest markers - you had to actually read the quests. There were no markers above enemies to indicate it was a quest enemy, you had to read the quests. Adventuring could easily kill you so you had to group up with people spontaneously to survive (something which I love and is something I love about ESO making it more social a game than both FFXIV and WoW).

But there are some changes that were not so good, like the implementation of the huge emphasis on RNG for loot, which makes it clear Blizz devs don't ever want you to stop playing the game.

Certainly not. What has changed in WoW? 99% QoL stuff. The art didn't change, they are still using the crap from 2006, it's just rendered in 10x more. The combat changed? Nope. The raids and dungeons changed? Certainly not, the boss names might be different and have different models but the the mechanics are the same. WoW is failing because the core of the game didn't change and it's just too old. Just like FFXIV, there are plenty of people in WoW that still plays because they enjoy the old unchanging style. But what else beyond that? It can't attract newer players because it doesn't have modern gamestyle, so as more and more players leave because it's getting old, it began to fail.

If you've been playing a whole lot you might be experiencing "MMO burnout". Its very common in every MMO ever because they tend to be repetitive and you (well, at least I) can end up spending tons of time in them without really noticing. I'd try to take a break from the game and come back in awhile. I play a lot so I burn out a lot. Quitting and coming back always works for me.
