Your justification for following people around in obscure areas to pop fireworks is because a few trolls spammed your chat?
What else is Yoshi-P supposed to say? Of course he's going to say that is great. He doesn't want a PR nightmare on his hands or you guys jumping down his throat like you're doing to me lol. Yes, Sargatanas doesn't have the erp problem some other servers have but I do run across the odd bit every once and a while and more often its the PDA emote spammers annoying everyone in public places. The second your fun impedes my fun is where I draw the line. Normal RP is fine as long as it isn't spammy imo. Though judging by the OPs server, where he was located, and his description in the original post I sincerely doubt its wholesome RP. *shrugs*OP very likely wasn't ERPing in public because that's literally breaking ToS with overly sexual and often offensive language. You also honestly sound like you don't know how RP works. Do did you also vomit when Runar picked up Y'shtola in joy? Fictional characters are allowed to be written to have feelings. And that's what people are doing. On a world like Sarg that I played on for like a year, I highly doubt what you see there is comparable to Balmung.
Edit to add: Yoshi P has expressed joy in interviews when players meet him and tell him how they found their SO through XIV and have children. You are in absolutely no right to dictate how people use the social aspect of XIV. It's not a dating app, obviously. But there's a chat function and an RP tag, the people using it in front of you are well within reason to enjoy the game beyond whatever it is you do on a daily.
That goes both ways. We're also paying to play the same game. Game is rated "T" in the United States which means it's targeted at ages 13 and up so you have minors playing this game. Do what you want, but if it isn't family suitable its getting reported. Spam emotes and its getting reported. Break the TOS and its getting reported. Also, I was agreeing with you in part which you seem to miss. The guys spamming and bothering the OP are also in the wrong. But so are the people who spam the pda emotes repeatedly in hub areas. Nobody cares that "you're in loooooove". It's just obnoxious and unnecessary. Keep it to tells or other private chats. That sounds like a "you" problem. OP pays a subscription like any one else and in doing so can RP in whatever corner of this virtual world they want. It's a big world in Eorzea. The fact that these brainless fools purposely picked these two people to harass is just what it is.. harassment. Disruption of one's game play with the deliberate intent to cause distress and was meant to garner a reaction caused by a few brats with attitudes like yours. It's against ToS to be disruptive with the intention to harass.
People who are saying to filter, turn off effects, move their conversation to a separate chat window, all I can say is why should they have to? I suggest for OP to report these fools and for those that don't like RP'ers. Then YOU move that chat to a different window, filter it and move along. Again Eorzea is a big world with plenty of room for different play styles.
And yet in definitions and the law you only need to constantly follow someone to count as stalking which is illegal.
Here one definition: broadly : a crime of engaging in a course of conduct directed at a person that serves no legitimate purpose and seriously alarms, annoys, or intimidates that person
Stalking in real life will be punished with years in prison in a lot of countries and there even exits the new term of cyberstalking because people have turned to doing it online too. So no it does not need active harrassment. Just the act of following others around and causing the person discomfort can count as that.
Hm people talking about the topic in the topic itself? Thats surprising!
Maybe some of us had stalkers ingame already or know about such cases and thus dont find it funny? Knowing how it can take away the fun out of the game and you cant do much because blacklisting them wont stop them from finding you..wont stop them from talking bad about you behind your back and tearing groups apart thanks to that..
Cyberstalking is a new term! It does exits. And I find it sad to read from police officers that they would laugh at such claims just because they had silly cases before..there had already been one huge case in FF14 about one player that forced himself on other women and blackmailed them. He even used that in real life against them too.. so please take such a thing more serious. It might be nothing but "fun" for some but others can turn very serious..and in this day and age its not that hard to find out who is playing behind that character and suddenly it turns real and suddenly some of those laughings police officer will have a real case on their hand which they could have stopped if they had taken it more serious.
In the end it would be nice to have more ways to deal with it..

People who don't RP apparently don't realize you can ERP in private chat channels while your characters are standing in public places. And it's usually pretty obvious when it happens, though you can't see the posts.
That said, people seem to think of Balmung's Quicksand like Moon Guard's Goldshire. It is literally nowhere near that bad.
It's just a simple fact that every RP community has people who're just there for ERP. This has been true since RP communities have existed.
So quit with the memes.

What do you mean "force" himself? Like emoting? "Stalking"? You guys have actually got to be joking. I am actually laughing so hard right now that I can't breathe. I mean if you guys are trolling or something, it's pretty good, but comon now. This is absolutely ridiculous. You realize this is a video game right?
What kind of RP are you guys actually getting into that this is even a thing?
How do you even blackmail someone for emoting in a game? This makes actually no sense at all. Did he crouch on top of someone's character and take screenshots, and threaten to send it to their online boyfriend?

If they're talking about the Oldbear "incident" the guy dated/"talked to" these women and the women did lewd stuff on Skype. A break up happened or he "cheated" and then revenge happened. The women tried to make it like he forced them to do stuff on skype because they forgot how to either block and or turn their computers off.
It's crazy out here how people refuse to take responsibility and just turn the pc off.
We live in a world where every one wants to be a victim. There is no personal accountability anymore and you get accosted as being a troll or a bigot if you claim otherwise. Multiple people in this thread have demonstrated that. A certain male Roegadyn up above has already resorted to childish insults. This same person also made a thread a few days ago complaining about his blacklist being full (no doubt looking for attention) and has demonstrated behavior that indicates that he is most likely "on the spectrum" - hell, a lot of people on these forums are either looking for attention, "on the spectrum", or completely devoid of common sense required to function without a society that coddles them and their false worldview. These people live in their game worlds and have no understanding of how the real world works and what real problems look like.
Quick question: are you RPing in say? Or are you doing whispers or party chat? I'm asking because some people find RP in public channels to be uncomfortable which might be whats leading to your issue.
