I haven't heard any news regarding square struggling for cash, none of their latest games has flopped and has sold pretty well. This includes hosting a very successful MMO that has a successful cash shop as well as being a paid sub-game. KH3 was the best selling game of this year if I recall. This is now followed up by ShB major success. And we're now going into the FF7 remake, as well as the revenue brought in by them simply porting games to the switch.

Yeah, they're making bank.

Can they afford to update their graphics, mess around with the CC and introduce the missing genders? Yes. Will they be allotted the funding in order to do this? Or rather, will Yoshida who is indeed on of the heads of Square push for this game to have more funding? Only time will tell.
