WHM has little to no utility, so I'm assuming they decided to make their damage high to compensate. AST by comparison has the highest utility of the 3 healers, so its DPS being pretty bad makes sense from a balance standpoint.
What utility does AST have now compared to what it had in Stormblood? The average rdps increase of around 700? That still leaves it way below what a whm can do. Without them bringing any "Utility" to the group.
Don't get me wrong I don't really care about DPS and I don't care that WHM can dish out the most damage right now. I am just saying that AST should then bring something else to the table but now that every card is a balance SE basically wants a AST to just bring a dps increase to the group.
I'd be fine if SE took away every DPS skill on a healer but then at least gave something to compensate and make the job fun again.
Heck honestly I wouldn't even know what Utility I'd give an AST at the moment. When playing AST in the beginning I always enjoyed saving up an ewer card just to give someone struggling with mp a little boost or use it myself. But it seems everything seems to have gotten easier. As of right now there is no challenge to playing a healer. No real resource management because we're not really challenged. We have too many tools for not enough situations to use them outside of Wall to Wall pulls in dungeons but that'll go away at some point. MP management is non existent unless you have people suiciding left and right. But that would be more of a fringe case.
The whole situation screams that SE doesn't have a solid plan in place for healers. And no it isn't that their plan just looks different from what the community wants.
