Unpopular opinion time.

I just wish that the devs had focus on one race. The viera and horthgar as they are now seem very unfinished to me. Voice and animation bugs, limited hair styles and no helms, no other gender. I think they should have just focused on one race and completed it in its entirety rather then try to please everyone and release two half finished races. Think they could have saved themselves a lot of hassle.

You may be right. Although I understand their rationale for going with male Hrothgar and female Viera, I am just wondering if the unfinished state of them has actually harmed their strategy. I suppose time will tell once we get a clearer picture of the Hrothgar and Viera statistics, but my current impression is that Hrothgar are mainly replacing Roegadyn males. The bigger question is how successful they have been in capturing players from other games, and for now I believe there is a dearth in the data required to draw such an assessment.

Their idea seems to have been to capitalise on demand when it would be at its highest, i.e. when people would be most interested in the new expansion, at launch. There are obviously many people who like the races as they came out (enough so to overlook any unfinished elements to them), but equally there will be those who will compare the product to that of other MMOs and/or who will take the unfinished elements as a slap in the face.

There's also the more speculative possibility that this may have been Yoshi's way of ensuring both races get a foot in the door, with the idea of adding the missing gender later, but in the end that is just a guess.

I come back to find that people are arguing over a Zeylos quote. A good-natured guy, but the king of hyperbole to the point you have to take everything said with a whole mug of salt. Haha, what the heck. Literally, do not take what he says seriously unless he has an official link/statistics or is quoting something with these things in them because half the time it's not fact, it's hyperbole or an opinion. It's just Zeylos being, Zeylos. There's no point calling him out either because he's our lovable Zeylos who we endure due to him being endearing.


I'd read the thread a little, you'd find out you're wasting your time with this because the quote is simply hyperbole and opinion. Nothing new has been added since the official statements/tweets etc by Yoshida and Matsuno. A date regarding male Viera has not been given. Move on.

actually, its basically 2 half finished halfs of races. Neither female viera or male hrotgar are in a state on where they are ready to be implemented into the game imo

Female viera are the thirs most played race, so they arent like u say. If it wasnt genderlocked wed be talkign differently. Guess on 6.0 with male viera the viera race will likely become one of the most popualr ones all arround

Who cares about male Viera? Why complain about that and not the lack of Miqo'te and Elezen males as well? I'd rather see those two races have males added first.
