Might I suggest you go play one of those other MMORPGs then? FFXIV doesn't have to cosplay as WoW to be good, indeed better, it already does that just by being itself.

Clearly you are looking for an experience the game doesn't offer and, after years of the formula, will never offer.

Why does the suggestion always come straight to "Play something else", instead of constructively considering, that maybe after all these years the formula is getting a bit stale. The formula is fine, did you never stop to consider that it's the formula which continues to drag the game from strength to strength?

Finishing everything up to Savage and having out-farmed both Ex Trials after only a few weeks of a 50+ hour story expansion dropping is not the norm. You are an outlier and Yoshi P, wisely, does not seek to detract from the tried and tested formula to cater to you. Though it seems you haven't done Ultimate yet so idk.

Agreed. This always comes up in conversations of this nature, I've had it leveled at me many times. I don't want to play something else, I want to play this. This is the only game I play.

Because it's the best counter to people who want the game to change to cater to them, instead of them adapting to the game or moving on to another game which already ticks all their preferred boxes.

Because almost every other day we get a new thread of somebody complaining about something in FFXIV, and the OP very often tries to bring in another MMO (Mostly WoW) to compare. Not every MMO needs to be like WoW, and no MMO needs to be like the other. FFXIV is its own game, Let It BE its own game. That stale Formula you mention is something many of us have come to love about FFXIV. 3-5 month Patch cycles slowly releasing more content in a 2 year period until the next expansion...This Stale Formula has worked for how many years, and now FFXIV is like what, Number 2 in the MMO world? And it got that way, by being Itself.
NOT, by being WoW...or ANY other MMO.

We get alot of content to play. If you are caught up, there is ALWAYS something to do in this game.
Did all endgame and want more? WELP, gonna have to wait. This is the way of FFXIV. It doesn't need to change, everything is planned. If they release too much content now, we'd have less to look foreword to in the future.

When Yoshi-P came on to fix FFXIV in ARR, one of the first things he did was instruct the developers to play WOW to get a feeling of what an MMO is like. FFXIV was its own game (though likely not because it was based on FFXI which was inspired by Everquest), FFXIV ARR was more like WOW, they take inspiration from WOW, they cite WOW as a role model.

This does not in any way mean "they copied WoW".

WoW is a great game for those who love that type of game. FFXIV is a different animal in the same safari. There are similarities sure but the focuses of both are easily identifiable different.
