I've never heard of this site until now and I disagree with it collecting my data without my consent.

The data in this game doesn’t belong to you. Your character doesn’t even belong to you. All of that belongs to Square Enix, and this is clearly stated in the ToS when you sign up for the game. They claim intellectual rights to your characters and everything about your account. Besides, your combat data is already available in the game to anyone who gets you in a party in the Battle tab. PC users also get a copy of all chat and battle logs saved locally to their PC in the game files.

It's not your data though? Parsers collect information from the battle log which is available to anyone who was in said encounter.

I think you have a very poor understanding of privacy. If people took constant video of you while you were out in public would you find this an acceptable thing for someone to keep?

Exactly. It’s Square Enix’s Data. Meaning it’s up to them to take action. FFLogs has existed for 4 years—I doubt it’s going anywhere any time soon. And, if it did, another would pop up in its place.

Are you going to move to have all logs not saved locally to PC player’s computers as well? Your comparison to someone making a video of you is a completely separate matter. This is not the same thing—especially since I could get you in a party and see everything you do in the game’s combat log. Your combat data is already available publicly in game. This website does nothing more than condense it.

This isn’t a privacy issue, regardless of how often players try to twist it as such.

Never tried to claim ownership of the data. Also video recording of myself irl is very different that numbers inside a video game. When you created your account you agreed to a tos that stated that your account and everything within it belongs to SE. This includes your characters and battle data, which is on display for anyone in a party with you at any given time.

If you do not partake in the games hardest content then this should have no impact on you at all. Sure there are jerks out there who will "check your logs" for trivial content but they are few and far between.

I just take my numbers being uploaded as the 'nature of the beast', and there is no real way to stop it. I know people pad their numbers, especially with a dancer around, so at first glance they aren't even that reliable. Specifically they will upload their best runs and omit their worst. I probably have good and bad runs on that site again nothing I can do about it unless, I would hypothetically do the same.

In the end I don't even care.

I actually get worried for other people when they start talking about their logs in a party, all someone has to do is report and the evidence is there in the chat for a ban

While that may be true, you can’t spin this argument around without first applying it to your own. That’s rather hypocritical. Don’t ignore it when it’s suddenly inconvenient to your argument.

That said, the developers are well aware that people use third-party tools. They watched the world progression teams for both Ultimates (in all three regions), and all of them had a parser present. They operate under a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, as well as a “don’t harass people in game about this” policy as well. But they know the tools are used—especially when it comes to high end content. If you don’t participate in said high-end content (Savage, Ultimate), then why does this matter to you?

From what I’ve gathered, FFLogs is going to move to filter out padding and start using rDPS calculations. Which is honestly something they should have done since Creator.

Terms of servicers are actually legally binding contracts between the partiets who sign it. They are however deemed uninforceable if it States that the service providor can change it when ever and however they want.

It's in my best interest (and yours) that what you sign is clean.

I dont care who or how logs or parsers. I raid when I want and how I want and havent had any problems yet. Get that narrative outta here.

I don't care that somebody is looking at my numbers. I care that while it's against the ToS, I'm now in a position where it's up to ME to let the third party program know that I don't wanna break the ToS because just by agreeing to the ToS, making my character and coming across someone who uses this stuff, I'm automaticly breaking the ToS. essentially.

Make it legal, hell endorse it! Don't put me in a situations where I have to work to not be involved with it when I've bought the game, signed the thing and bought the subscription for it, if it's not a game feauture.

That's all I would like, personally.
