It all makes me wonder if the writers would be bold enough to tell a story where viera society is dismantled and restructured in order to give the men a better deal. It kind of bothers me that they're willing to do stories involving the divide between the rich and the poor as well as pushing for drastic change in Garlemald, yet there's absolutely nothing in regards to the situation viera men face.

It'd be a great way to justify them being playable if they collectively decide to say 'screw it' to the status quo, especially if they find out that quite a few viera women are abandoning their duties to go off adventuring.

Though I suppose it's all wishful thinking. The writers play it very safe when it comes to certain plot elements.

Viera don't procreate often, likely due to their longevity. (we learn that they can live at least 3 times as long as elezen can somewhere along the MSQ, and elezen can live up to 200 years iirc). So babysitting is probably not a huge part of their job.

Viera men stick together and defend the borders of their homelands from beasts and people alike, only rarely coming back into the female settlements for either trade or procreation. It's a rather time consuming gig, i gather. Their lore is a slightly more intense version of the Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te males.

Every 3-5 years is ridiculously often for a race that lives as long, so either they mate but no baby comes out, or the mortality rate of both male and female is depressingly high enough to balance it out - and since there are few males to begin with, only a few Viera will give birth (unless they go the Seeker route where a single male has fun with an entire village)

I just noticed that out of all the arguments and the likes, with people wanting beautiful men. No one has mentioned Innocence? What have people not seen this beautiful elegant hunk yet? Allow me to scream and throw a tantrum because male Viera will probably never look as elegant as that dude.

He's not bad looking. Though personally I find it a little hard to overlook a certain something. Vague to avoid spoilers. I'd say angelic aesthetics would be better suited to a potential angelic inspired race, though. Something with wings, maybe. I always liked the winged people in the Breath of Fire games.

I think the whole issue is the fact SE is draining a lot of resource and not redirecting enough for FFXIV development. Even if the title prove to profitable with MTX ,monthly fee and expansions.

so you mean like the Aegyl from ff12 reverent wings, who coincidentally are tied to the Foel Viera :P
