Doubt you'll get much of an answer that goes beyond spite, or 'I don't like seeing more male toons' or 'No ERP' allowed - etc. In fact honestly, the only legitimate argument I've seen against them is just simple dislike of the race on the whole and desiring more dev time elsewhere. Though you rarely see anyone fully admit that they just dislike the race as a whole, and instead hide behind some other agenda.
I respect those who truly have a good argument that doesn't equal = I'm just petty. Though I respect those who also just come out and fully say they're just being petty.
Though let's be real - most I've seen in the argument seem to be men who fit into the whole 'masculinity so fragile' trope, who don't want their e-girl fantasy destroyed. :[ They already have to deal with the naked catbois, roes and now Hrothgar - we should be considerate of their feelings.
-edit. Eating my horns because for once someone actually did bring up something that was a good point. People are weird. BACKPEDALS EXTREMEEEE

Thank you! See this argument actually makes sense! Tell me, is it the people wanting children? Overly feminine men? I'm now genuinely curious now that I can see your reason isn't beyond spite. Nah, this isn't sarcasm. I would honestly just dig mViera a grave if they ended up looking like children, or walking overly feminine men who look like they belong in yaoi.
Fair enough though folks are being pretty strange with the female viera too

Something tells me It's just going to boil down to something something sexualized men something something fujoshi I hate yaoi something something ew. He already alluded to it with that choice quote, so I wouldn't hold my breath expecting anything original. You can make a bingo card with these responces at this point.People are already being very strange with Hrothgar as it is.
I don't think we going to get anything "overly feminine" (What does that mean?) All men have the option to wear makeup, and Miqo'te is the most twinky the game has gotten as far as PCs go. The only thing more feminine than that would be literal drag queens.

By overly feminine I mean the people who literally wanted a copy of female Viera just without the chest. To the point people were just done and told them to just play a female toon if that's honestly the only thing they want is a flat chested female Viera. These were folks who were using the whole 'You can't tell the difference between males and females until they hit puberty' so they took that as 'they must look like females.'He already admitted that his reason is going to be the same thing we've already heard previously.

As for their argument, I don't agree with it but I see the logic in it and why some folks don't wish to see it. I don't like seeing naked lalas around me - it creeps me out. I also dislike outfits that are just a guy's wet dream, bra, panties etc - just that. I hate it. So I also understand why someone would be firm against it. Again, I don't agree with it - but I see where the dislike is coming from.

Ah, that I can get. I do adore androgynous/feminine men, but if you want a man so feminine he can be mistaken for a woman, then rolling a female would be the best option. You can say in the search description that they are a male so people know, and any misgendering done in the MSQ can simply be explained away as someone being confused by appearance.By overly feminine I mean the people who literally wanted a copy of female Viera just without the chest. True, but while you dislike it, I assume you do not go around attempting to police other people on what to do with their toons on a game they pay for; you simply roll your eyes and look in a different direction, yes? That's where the line is drawn; there is a difference between you saying "I personally don't like this, so I will not partake in it" and "I personally don't like this so I'm going to shame anyone who does have this preference and tell people that they should not do this with their characters." Like we see some of the knuckleheads that pop into this thread to pick fights do. One is live-and-let-live, the other is "I am the god king of what you get to enjoy, and if you like bunny men then your sub is canceled"I don't agree with it but I see the logic in it and why some folks don't wish to see it. I hate chocolate covered cherries, they're gross as shit to me. Doesn't mean I want the entire candy banned and say that I hope companies go out of business and never make them. And that people that like them should be ashamed.

It always makes me laugh when people Bring up the Regalia as soon as Lore is mentioned....Exhibit A, this is exactly what I was talking about.
Why do you care if male Viera would be made unattractive? You know for a fact squeenix wouldn't even dream of doing anything like that. How do I know this? Because they already have a short and pudgy race; the lalafel; And know what happened? The fanbase gobbled them up like candy and asked for more, the JP players in particular. Also, the fact that one of your points is the attractive level of the male viera shows you care an awful lot about how attractive these potential male bunnies would be, and the satisfaction of the players depending on their attraction level.
Besides, yoshi already said if they were to happen, they'd be similar to elezen in body type, much like the female viera.
Please look at this picture and say that sentence again. And if you have anything else to say about the sanctity of lore after that, say it to the picture.
Super morbidly obese chocobos aren't the most lore friendly, nor is a flying T-rex, whale, or chrstimas bear that throws presents at you. Yet here we are.
The lore is meaningless. FF14 has been universally considered the final fantasy theme park for a long time now; the regalia mount, and the soon-to-be Neir crossover event that is going to be canon iirc cements that the sanctity of the lore is an illusion. They pump this game full of anything and everything they want because that's what this game is for. The fact that viera were even added in the first place shows this. They want to make the people happy by shoving in as many ff references as they can fit in their code.
So once again:
Its an event item for a crossover event. These things never have anything to do with lore, sure you can say its immersion Breaking, but its not really an argument against an established race.
Personally, I stick with the lore argument because the Viera have existed since 2003 in FF-TA. Its always been in the Lore that the Males are never seen, they stay hidden in the woods. It anyone ever see's one, its like a 1/Millionth chance. So for people that know the Viera pretty well, this is lore Breaking if we suddenly get a massive Influx of Male Viera running around. But, I know nobody wants to hear that. So Ill end this by saying, if and when we do get Male Viera, I hope ya'll are happy with them.
