This.. probably happens more than you'd think.
I honestly don't play the game myself much, but from what I remember and from what my friend who DOES actively play it says, the grind is mind numbing killing of thousands of enemies for the most part.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
There is a lot of truth in what he’s saying. Early leveling is really slow to get going. You really have to push through it to enjoy the game. I get where he is coming from as a new player. I got sick of reading all the story quest and kind of just get the general idea of what’s going on. Now I’m really enjoying it….it’s different but if you give it time it really grows on you.Quite a few of his points were points people here have made before, but I think the negativity (including the title) has made him a homing beacon to be piled on. That and it seems like he tunneled visioned that negativity, there were quite a few examples with WoW/other mmorpgs that didn't make sense. Leveling in FFXIV is easy.. Though the MSQ gate.. yeah okay we as a community have talked about that a few times (Yoshida mentioned it semi-recently with an offhand joke about maybe having another calamity lol), the slow combat early on we all know about too (which wouldn't be a problem with the fast leveling if it wasn't for the gate sometimes holding you down). And of course for some people all of the above isn't a problem, which makes it all the more fun lol.I can understand a lot of points he made, looking back on my own experiences. I feel he missed only one crucial point. This is very much a game, content wise at least, best done with friends. I only came back to this game due to friends and together that made the content much more enjoyable and fun. Trying to tackle on the party content alone all the time. Yeah I'd probably have stayed retired and I can't fault him for his comments.
Personally I've suggested an accelerated start that puts players at the doors of an expansion (NOT at end game), in that new start would be about 2 to 3 hours of content including a short story primer and combat primer and then pointing the player towards some MSQ and giving them a sort of Adventurers Log that encourages them to go check out other things (like Golden Saucer, etc, etc). Such that the game is unfolded more frenetically and at the feet of more engaging combat- to put players who are more go go into that place, those who prefer it slow can start at the very beginning still.
So people defending their team (natural response) + rage beacon wording and some unfair/inconsistent comparisons + people have different opinions = sith lord light saber "dis"like bar lol.
Also I imagine he'd have a much better time if he researched a bit first or utilized some of FFXIV's system, seems like he needs more buttons to press and be important to the group. As when he became healer he was happier, but it sounds like most of the time he played he was not the job he liked.. feels like he should have switched much sooner as this is a FF(job) game after all. We've a few tightly bound jobs that probably would have worked a lot better (though his issue with the MSQ / low level combat would remain for a while, but he's now out of ARR and HW so that should be greatly improved once he finds a job he likes). Also he skipped the wrong MSQ, if he was to skip one it'd be ARR. Everyone might have a favorite theme but it seems to me they learn how to better tell and organize the story each expansion, so mechanically they improve one to the next (if ShB just being excellent imo, my favorite so far).

Yep, 101 or 102 or so before you reach HW. If you don't watch the cutscenes it'll probably take about ~12-18 hours of playtime to do it. Otherwise probably about 24, at least. Like others have said, if you're not invested feel free to skip. I wouldn't take FFXIV as a game to try to rush-rush-rush, though. For all the little fetch quests and tidbits of actual lore and characterization to go along with the inane quests, it builds to something. So quick question…I’m lvl 48 so forgive my ignorance but are you saying that when I finish the main quest and hit lvl 50 I have another 100+ quest to progress to the next expansion? Or is that 100+ main quest what you’re talking about?
Please tell me when I finish the main quest and hit 50 I don’t have to do another 100+ quest to move to the expansion…
I've never been interested in BDO, so I have no idea.
You would get the FTC interested as well, theyve been increasingly active in monitoring social media for that kind of thing.just imagine the PR disaster if your company was caught paying content creator to trash their competitor.

Ok? and I guess you're holier than thou because you defend a youtuber/ person with a different opinion? Please. But feel free to feel disgusted. Nobody cares.Oh look, someone has an opinion that isn't positive of the community so people start targeting him to downvote him.
What is wrong with you people?
You lot constantly advertise FF14 as the nicest community around, and here we are. A youtuber posted on a forum because he has a different opinion than you and everyone is downvoting him for having a different opinion. There's even a certain person that suggested for SE to contact youtube to take down his video because it's not a nice review of the game and proceed to bash him because he doesn't agree with you.
Honestly, threads like these make me feel disgusted to be part of this community.
Look, about most people here don't care he doesn't like the game. Its how he went on about it, one thing he said which probably rubbed people the wrong was saying the game is like "having your d**k chopped or your finger nails pulled" to "do the devs even play their own game?" ((he says that a lot in many mmo's he plays he doesn't like))
He wasn't professional in the slightest when giving out his opinions, it came off as mindless, shameless bashing. Why you think he has the amount of dislikes? You think that's only FFxiv players? No.
His video was pure bashing and that's why people here are hating it. If it was well made video was valid concerns then which he did bring one on going one most people agree with which is the ARR 1-50 But other than that, it was just bashing in attempt to make the video "funny" .
Hell he even said he's ready and he'll have his popcorn so that kinda gives out he knew this would upset people.
But feel free to defend such a video because you're so much better than the community![]()
Generally I have not been rushing through but I would like to get to heavensward without 100+ quest after hitting 50. Damn...that's a bummer.Yep, 101 or 102 or so before you reach HW. If you don't watch the cutscenes it'll probably take about ~12-18 hours of playtime to do it. Otherwise probably about 24, at least. Like others have said, if you're not invested feel free to skip. For all the little fetch quests and tidbits of actual lore and characterization to go along with the inane quests, it builds to something.
Ya so theres a reason nobody liked this guy. He is taking "sponsorships" to review MMO's. AKA Bliz is paying him so he has to talk trash about FFXIV

Because its the same comparison people have made with everything since they started making comparisons. "This thing which is not the same as the other thing is exactly the same thing as the other thing and youre wrong for thinking theyre different".
And based on comments others made, I was spot on with it also, because, again, same comparisons as always.
