So quick question…I’m lvl 48 so forgive my ignorance but are you saying that when I finish the main quest and hit lvl 50 I have another 100+ quest to progress to the next expansion? Or is that 100+ main quest what you’re talking about?
Please tell me when I finish the main quest and hit 50 I don’t have to do another 100+ quest to move to the expansion…

    Theres different kinds of grind.

Everquest was grindy in how you leveled, but the way it fostered a community while doing it was a MAJOR selling point. You leveled while crawling dungeons or camping drops. It was grindier than any other game on the list, but that's how it worked, and people didnt look at it and go "that's not at all what we thought it was going to be" because that's exactly what it was and exactly what it was going to be for 15 years (and now you can do missions and get 100 aa's in 20 minutes).

The best way to level in wow was to basically do the same thing. Grind dungeons and do sidequests.

14s leveling is grindy in a way that at times encourages you to actively avoid other people, and at others encourages you to say as little as possible. And now with trusts, it's even less.

All mmorpgs have story, just because ffxiv is designed to throw it in your face doesn't mean it's any more story based than another.
14 throws its story in your face and goes "LOOK WE HAVE A STORY PLEASE DO IT" and locks gameplay behind doing it.

Other MMO's say "we have a story, have fun exploring it" and leave it up to the player to decide if they want to interact with it while playing.

Did you know every NPC language [the ones you cant learn to speak in game] in EQ is translatable to english? It's never said anywhere, theres no quest that says "you can learn what every word in greater akhevan says if you do xyz", it's something you can just do.

lol 100+, you probably have like 200+ quests to do. I think there are sites where you can find a list of the MSQs but yes many many more.

Good news if you like the story they shove in your face, bad news if you just aren't invested in it.

I personally recommend not watching it and skipping because it takes days even with skipping if your goal is to catch up (without using money). You can always rewatch cutscenes

Dude's entitled to his opinion. I don't share it. As far as I've gotten into the story, this expansion is a masterpiece. But different strokes and all that jazz.

I'm pretty sure you have over 200 quests to do before you actually get to the current expansion.

Welcome to the garbage story that so many people seem to defend for no valid reason. The only decent story is SHB.

You have 100 quests from the end of ARR to the start of HW.

You used to not be able to gain XP into 50 until you got into HW itself, but that was changed, thankfully.

That set of quests is why I now recommend skips to any of my friends who start playing 14 and want to do anything close to max level content ant time soon.

He's the type of gamer who rushes to endgame and doesn't sit back and enjoy the journey. I actually unsubbed from him after about 5 minutes.

It's apparent he's not accustom to how JRPG's work.

People can dislike games sure, and the reviewer has a few valid points that are universally disliked, but he's weirdly negative about things he forgives other games for or doesn't even mention about them.
I think it's just that he forced himself to play a game that wasn't for him too much and it made him bitter and lose his objectivity, he's a bad reviewer but that's it, I don't think there's any illuminati conspiracy behind the video. I mean who would even pay him, just imagine the PR disaster if your company was caught paying content creator to trash their competitor.
