WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
So the game is keeping you busy the entire fight with your primary role and you somehow think this is a bad thing?
We were never meant to dps the entire fight. That healing was so unnecessary to allow it was a flaw in the design. Our dps contribution is meant to be windows as the fight allows and part of being an accomplished healer was finding those windows. But if you were the type of healer who focused dps over your primary role, who made the argument against using a healing ability so as not to waste a dps tick, you're going to have trouble in this expansion.
I personally have no trouble, but I long ago learned how to find those windows and balance my roles. I see this as nothing but good for the healing community, as the game is finally reinforcing our primary role.
I recently watched a video of someone going over each of the Spells and Abilities and he agrees with you as I do. There are too many healing abilities not just on SCH but WHM as well. This was pointed out by someone else in this thread where they said that they didn't even use all of their healing abilities in the latest EX trials. I believe it's the person that I'm quoting as well. The thing is, I did the new EX trials and I still spend most of my time doing DPS, throw a oGCD here shield the tank there, back to glare I go. And it's not like I'm giving my co-healer hell by not healing, they spend just as much time as me doing DPS. That said I'm not even using my full healing toolkit for the most part, because the damage just doesn't call for it.
Sorry but what game have you been playing? Because from what I can see it's not much different. Leveling dungeons feel a tad harder, just like in SB and HW because we're suddenly at min ilv instead of massively overgeared.. But even then most healers i get do loads of dpsing. Heck we did a wall to wall pull and the WHM happily spammed holy with the occasional shield/ogcd heal or their new instaheal. If anything it's the SCH/AST having a bit of trouble because of mana issues.
I never stated that I pushed DPS at the sake of healing output. I simply know when to heal or when to prepare to heal like yourself while pushing the DPS. It's been that way since it was relaunched 6 years ago. Does this mean that the original idea was flawed. I don't believe that at all. What I do believe is what I said at the beginning of this thread that we are moving to an over casualized position. So the game is keeping you busy the entire fight with your primary role and you somehow think this is a bad thing?

We play games to feel some sort of achievement. The reward for overcoming complexity and challenge feels far more rewarding than being rewarded with something like a mobile game. *shudders*
I've been playing XIV for the last 6 years since beta. I also played in the beta and full release of 1.0Sorry but what game have you been playing? Because from what I can see it's not much different. Sorry I missed that part. @Beelhi
I'm just a little heated about this change.

Being able to Largesse and Regen or Medica II and have it last nearly the entire fight while we did nothing but dps because there was nothing keeping us actively healing is a hell of a lot more casual to me. We can't lean on those like a crutch anymore. We need to maintain them if we want to take advantage of those abilities.I never stated that I pushed DPS at the sake of healing output. I was bored as hell with Regen and Forget It and just Holy spamming. That's what makes me want to turn on Netflix. I'm happy we have to heal constantly. It's long overdue.
I never really cared for WHM for that reason to some degree. However playing as an AST and SCH was in my opinion far more challenging because it wasn't just one attack like WHM. All healers have been "gutted" to where we have essentially 1 DoT and 1 Direct Damage spell like Ruin, Stone, Malefic, and yes your holy. I've looked at the newer abilities for each of the healers from 70 to 80 this doesn't really change. It goes back to what some have already stated in this thread. The content that SE has put out for us needs to reflect the changes. Some of the footage and points of view even in this thread seem to suggest otherwise.Being able to Largesse and Regen or Medica II and have it last nearly the entire fight while we did nothing but dps because there was nothing keeping us actively healing is a hell of a lot more casual to me.
