I have no real information, I haven't gone digging anywhere.
But I kind of doubt it's something thats absolutely necessary to complete... Probably just a sidequest that will give some fancy reward for leveling a class on all 4 roles to 80.

im happy they finally reward people who leveled all classes
I think this aids personal stories more than anything. Your choice here actually affects what happens to you character. It would be nice if there were more either/or choices though. The only one I can think of is which city you start in, which I'm wondering if it will be changeable in the game+ system.I'm sure you are not the only player who has created some kind of fantasy/lore with their character, however the fact is SE's provided lore supercedes your own so if you need to do something specific to clear a quest then you have to break character (your lore) just like everybody else.
I mean, you've gotten this far without seeing any of the DRK, WAR, PLD, SCH, WHM, or AST storylines, yeah?I don't see why I have to level ALL jobs. I don't like tanking. I don't like healing. I've always played ranged DPS. Now I am going to have to level up jobs that make me uncomfortable and I will most likely fail at. Sounds like a great time. I can't wait to hear all of the players from Gilgamesh screaming at me for sucking at healing or tanking. Good times. (And I mention Gilgamesh because those players seem to have real issues with everyone and always make nasty comments)
You've already missed out on some of the best stories in FFXIV, and we don't even know if this one will be especially good. What changed now? Why do you have to watch *this* specific story in-game rather than on youtube?
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
So many people here who think OP doesnt want to level up the jobs (or that he hasnt already on his alts)
Not our fault some people want to whine that their personal lore is more important than the entertainment of the entire playerbase. If you want to restrict yourself from seeing content that's your business.
But don't pull what is essentially "no fun allowed" with the people that have all jobs leveled (like me) or put in the effort.
Uhhh… This panic is hilarious.
Yoshi literally said that in order to complete the MSQ, you need to complete ONE of the Role quest storylines.
Which means the extra quest for completing all four is entirely optional.
If you're so dedicated to your roleplay, make an alt. Get one role of each variety to ShB on that so you don't break your main characters roleplay. This will become absurdly easy to do when we get New Game+, assuming it allows us to repeat the MSQ on an alt job.
Even without New Game+, You can FATE/Hunt all the way to 80 if you don't want to deal with actually playing the other roles.
All in all, I didn't notice this quest when I first skimmed the Notes, as I initially thought it was the MSQ continuation for when you finish the one required Role Quest. But I'm really happy it exists, because it finally utilizes the job system for Lore.
EDIT:
So I re-read your OP, and noticed you mentioned that you do in fact have alts for the purpose of roleplay. That's cool, But whats stopping you from creating a new roleplay alt whose story allows for the multi role requirement?
Get creative, not mad.

Exactly. I have alts for these things—while melee DPS and ranged DPS aren’t my cuppa, I do have characters for them. I just have a problem with having a single character who, according to job lore, is THE one and only new Warrior AND THE one and only Dark Knight AND THE one and only Monk AND THE one and only Bard AND THE one and only White Mage AND THE one and only Black Mage, etc. Doesn’t feel realistic to me, at all. A prodigy of magic or of martial skill makes some sense, but someone who is literally so good that they are the only person to achieve a wide number of disciplines just doesn’t work in my mind. I have my tank, I have my mage (who will also dance because backstory), I have my shooter, all of whom I’ve become attached to. It has always felt wrong to me to have everything on one character, and until now, there has literally been no reason to do so outside of the ability to flex to fill a role my group needs.
The easiest fix for people like me would be to make the quest unlock based on account-wide achievements, rather than discipline quests on a single character, though I know the infrastructure for that doesn’t presently exist.
EDIT: Also worth noting that I’m not really panicking, lol. Just making a thread to request a change. It’s cool that y’all have no problem with this requirement/incentive. It just bothers me that to experience this quest, I will either have to change the fantasy for the characters I’ve come to love, or create an entirely new one who will undoubtedly feel absurdly OP.

Wait a minute. Did you - and others - just say they have a "backstory" for their character that they follow?
And I thought I am the only one... *starts to sob in joy*
My aging Lalafell (growing streaks of grey hair already) never picked up an axe or will be found in armor. He was, when young, an archer, but later turned into a Black Mage which in return kindled his interest in healing studies to balance out the havoc.
After the retirement, he took one last turn and expanded on Red Magic and rapier fighting. Never will you see me creating clothes or using astrology to heal - pah!
So... I can't do these either I guess :[
But then again, I won't do many other quest either :]
