Multi-Discipline Ending Quest - Can You Not?

So in the patch notes, there is a quest that cannot be taken unless a character has completed all four of the discipline quests: tank, healer, physical DPS, and magic DPS.

I know I’m perhaps just being stubborn, but I don’t think this requirement is fair.

My characters generally follow one of the disciplines. The fantasy I have in my mind for them precludes the possibility of, for example, my tank taking to the back lines and throwing spells, or my SMN/SCH picking up a sword and shield and holding the front line with her complete lack of musculature (she’s effectively a bookworm).

Locking a quest behind the requirement that these characters break with the fantasy I’ve established for them means that it’s a quest I’ll probably never get to see, because it doesn’t feel right to bring up these disciplines on them (never mind that it effectively means grinding them through PotD/HoH, which is a mode of gameplay that I do not enjoy).

It would be one thing to tie an achievement or a specific award to getting each discipline up—that would be something I and others like me could ignore. However, making it a quest, which presumably has lore revelations and cutscenes and the like, effectively requires people to play the game in a way that was previously entirely optional.

My character fantasy is that she doesn't have the patience for crafting, but I still leveled a crafting job for the ixal, moogle, namazu, and allied beast tribe stories. If you want the content, you'll do the work.

I hate most phsyical DPS in this game.
ironically, since I practically ONLY play physical DPS in other games.
but yeah, I have DPS leveled, they are just casters.

but then there's also the OCD in me upset that its separated by physical vs caster, rather than melee vs ranged. (4 melee DPS was enough, u didnt need to add 3 more to 1 category)

but anyways, I'll eventually do it, but ill start with youtube before i get around to it.
For now, id suggest RDM for ur caster, and just stay in melee range, and glamour some armor on yourself (i did)

for your healer... I guess WHM, since its the only one with a real melee weapon. also glamour armor on them, and only stay in melee range (i also technically do this, since its easier to heal/dodge cones)

To me all I see is -- I dont want to level other jobs to do this quest. In which case I will say tough.

No. I like the idea is reward those of us that paly all roles with an extra quest. If you really want to do the quest just level the roles and ignore them for your RPing.

OMG people here can really complain about everything.... This place can really kill any hype for the expansion with the amount of complaining threads really... It's ridiculous

It's an obvious bait to lure more people to level tank and healer to help with ques. Also, there is a certain job that is a 2X1. I mean, all you need to do is level 3 jobs.

    IMO is a good idea.

Just no, it's good as it is : rewarding people to level up all jobs.
Tired to see posts like this asking to casualize even more the game.
I mean cm'on for once we have content to do in order to have access to a special thingy you cannot buy in the cash shop.
