I always supported male Viera, because it's the race I wanted to change to, but knowing my male items from Mog Station won't be usable if I become a female Viera makes this a necessity.

I feel exactly the same about Hrothgar. There will be a lot of people that play it for a few months or they might even make it a whole year, but what will happen before the expansion has even run its two years it it will just split the already low Roe population. I am guessing roughly half of the already low Roe population will stay as Hrothgar after the new wears off and the two of them will always be competing for the least played race of FFXIV.Naw fam. They did it cuz of somewhat popular demand....by the JP audience, specifically for bunny gurls. They just threw the Ronso males in to balance things out. From what I seen. Jp forum is happy with how things stand. They wont waste dev time and resources for the master race vocal minority of the na/eu boards.
Just how it is. Deal with it.
And if ya think the jp community is any diff. Just some wants it. Not like your seeing them make a new thread screaming about it every single bloody day. Its not gonna happen, and if it does, so few are gonna actually use the race, which SE likely already projected, that in the end it be a complete waste. I can assure you, most of the cat bois change to bucks, will change back a month later, just like how most lolita cat girls will be a bunny girl, get tired of not looking loli, then change back. Then you will see at most, 2 percent of the entire population playing either gender.
A waste, tbh, they never shoulda released viera and Roth, it was a mistake, a waste of dev time and resources, and now a cause of headache for the moderators to newly deal with, cuz devs should have known this backlash would happen.
We’ll see how the acquisition of Construct 7 and its considerable teleportation powers and the addition of Black Rose into the equation change things. Although Varis hasn’t got an appetite for wanton bloodshed, if he is corrupted or replaced by a certain someone that may change.I dunno if we'll be going to Golmore any time soon, mainly due to lore reasons. The lore between the Viera on the Source and the Vii on the First is most likely completely different, as I'm sure the Vii are more open to getting help and helping others due to the Sin Eater threat, whereas Viera aren't in any immediate danger (especially as their jungle is probably the safest place from the war taking place on Eorzea) and will probably continue to kill anyone who enters their jungle.
Basically; what we've seen in Orbonne Monastery is all we're gonna see of Golmore. Kinda like with Xelphatol.
Granted, they could bypass Dalmasca and its surroundings entirely and go directly to northern Ilsabard in 6.0 (or worse yet, deal with Garlemald via cutscenes in 5.0), but we shall see. Whilst I concede they may give Golmore and even Dalmasca the Xelphatol treatment, that would not be something I'd like to see repeated.
They said that we'd take down the Empire, but an empire can fall only to give way to another, e.g. if someone like Zenos were to claim the throne, re-brand it and re-purpose it. It depends on how eager they are to take away the one major military threat to Eorzea in the setting. That said, I am hoping we do get to see a liberated Garlemald as a zone-scale city, a bit like Midgar.Yoshi had stated that Shadowbringers is the end of 80% the ascian storyline and there was a slide during Vegas fan fest that said we’re stopping the Garleans too. I don’t anticipate the entire plot taking place on the First. I can see us going back to finish the fight. If not with an army, we could just defeat the Emperor on his own and the rival political faction could take care of the rest.
That may be a good thing if it ends up that way because it could mean we would be able to visit Garlemald in a future expansion as a city and not a dungeon (looking at you, Ala Mhigo)
We'll probably have to wait until after 5.1, once the luckybancho census is done, to get a clearer picture. There's going to be a lot of movement about come early 5.0. Maybe even longer in regards to trends for those who stick with the game. as expansions tend to see an early spike in player numbers and then settle down at lower figures.I feel exactly the same about Hrothgar. When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I feel like a lot of people who play roegadyn characters tend to like races like hrothgar. I'm going to guess a lot of roegadyn players will switch to hrothgar permanently. The only reason I can see people dropping hrothgar or going back to roegadyn would be because of the limited hairstyles. Although we don't know yet just how limited these hairstyles will be.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Actually, we should count some part of male Miqo'te going there, too. I saw few players who played them only because there was no other feline beast looking option. Some Auri, too. So I think they will be more popular than Roes now, but not same popular as recent top3 options (Miqo'te-Au Ra-Hyur triada).I feel exactly the same about Hrothgar. Ah well. Waiting for 5.0 then. X)

femenine is certainly not like child, and I think that it's a minorit ywho wants it. I only stated my opinion on clothes and fashion, and the fact that, like with every single last other race in the game, male viera will almost 100% sure have a femenine/androgynous looking face, a younger-ish one (20ies, like male miqote) and a rough and tough one, with the last one likely being a handsome AF faceI'm just glad that Yoshi-P put his foot down and stated outright that child-like viera would not be a thing. I'm in agreement that some of the proposed designs are pretty creepy, though I don't think the development team will go with such an approach no matter how much certain posters try to push the 'androgynous/feminine' aesthetic towards the same result.
I still think it'd be for the best to remove the child-like images from the original post, but that apparently isn't going to happen so there's not much to be done about it unfortunately.
I think they will look like actual rabbits, more than the females. maybe even buck teeth.femenine is certainly not like child, and I think that it's a minorit ywho wants it. Pretty much what I was gonna say on the matter. I don't speak with any Roebros as they're clearly their own thing but before I heard news of their take on this I saw mostly Cat Boys excited that they can now become Cat MEN because ... shockingly when you have only 1 "furry" race people who want a full on mammal-human anthro race just feel like they have to settle for what they can get. Same with Scale Bros, saw a number of them who are excited about converting to a beast race and seem to have played their current race cause it's the most beastly option.Actually, we should count some part of male Miqo'te going there, too. I saw few players who played them only because there was no other feline beast looking option. Some Auri, too. So I think they will be more popular than Roes now, but not same popular as recent top3 options (Miqo'te-Au Ra-Hyur triada).
Later I found out that many Roebros want to convert. Makes sense, they like the big beefy boy look and the Hrothgar are a much better take on that.
And on top of all of that it's the fact that this game is the biggest it's ever been ... prob in no small part due to w/e number of people from the other 2 biggest MMOs coming over. As of right now there's really no good option for someone who plays a beast looking race in those games in this one so they would have had to settle on some other race til Hrothgar go live.
As for Viera, that's another story. The males of this game have a fairly decent spread. Sure, Roebros are the least played male ... but they're only 5k below Elezen and for every 4 cat boys there's 1 Roebro. But the 2 least played anythings in this game are Female Elezen and Femroe. There's like 1 Femroe for every 17-20 cat girls IIRC. Seems many expected the Viera to be Cat girls with bunny features seeing how many "They're too tall!/ Where's their bunny tail?" I've seen. I feel like Viera will be more popular than Elezen females because like half of them are gonna convert to what's basically better looking Elezen 2.0 but IDK past that.
