Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

On a side note, I fully wonder what people who are so for male viera, and threaten to unsub or the like, would be doing if no new race(s) had been introduced this expansion at all. Were they playing the game with the expectation of male viera, before viera was even an announced race?

I'll put it the way it happened for me
-Paris fan fest Viera reveal no males it get pit in stomach i hold off from pre-ordering due to feeling unsatisified with what was showcase gameplay side too
-Japan fan fest any shred of hype was killed here, i continue to hold off pre-ordering
-Job action trailer reveal trailer, i liked dnc gameplay i pre-ordered

The very thought of such a gender lock kept me from pre-ordering and almost caused me to not continue supporting SE its only due to gameplay that i am staying now, SE decisions of late has been questionable for me, so it can just be the gender lock was the last straw for others

Both i hated both no mViera was the first thought due to how coy Yoshi was with the whole thing but it also dawned on me we get 2 halves not 1 whole and i hated it more

Here's the issue:

1) You have Yoshi-P stating that in terms of resources, adding two separate genders per race is equivalent to adding one full race.

2) They have stated they would consider adding the missing genders, but that resource costs currently prevent it. This is only some time after they were moved to respond to the topic, following fan outcry about their decision not to add male Viera and female Hrothgar.

2) is conditional in nature, and means unless that happens, they are in fact acting as a replacement for the gender not added. I don't see how that conclusion can be avoided, when they themselves have framed it this way.

Now it is true that those requesting mViera can be respectful in how they approach the topic, but I'm not sure why SE's decision here should not be seen for what it is.

This is subverting the blame. You're neglecting to accept the fact that male viera supporters acted rabid in the beginning and lashed out at those that were hppy. SE took the route they did to try and please as many people as possible. Yoshi P has already apologized for the situation and has said they will be more transparent in the future. Although, it's not even their fault that an expectation was built for something THAT WAS NOT PROMISED. The player base ignored all previous signs, blatantly assuming they were getting something that has been addressed in the past as a "probably not". This by no means is to be taken as that I don't support the adding of the genders, but by god do some of you make it hard to want to support this at all.

I would full out not respond to Arngrim, I could care less for what he thinks of this thread. I don't like Hrothgar and feel they were a huge mistake and added at the wrong time, so what? I have nothing to apologize for. Just like you don't have to apologize for not wanting Male Viera.

I'm making one final post here because I just absolutely cannot stand this anymore. Most here are fake. You pretend to support the inclusion of both genders but you just want male viera, but have to say both so that you don't look like self absorbed children. You refuse to accept outside opinions although you claim to be inclusive as a group. This is an echo chamber where if you go against the grain, a rabid group of supporters leap on you for disagreeing. At this point, it's worthless to even try and carry on a conversation here because people merely get defensive, tell others to ignore you because you have a different opinion, and tell you that your opinion is invalid because it goes against them, act like a victim when people try to call you out on your lies or crap. Honestly, this thread makes me sick. Reply to this all you like. I won't be back to check it.

They may not be recently in this specific thread, but male viera apparently gets spammed all over twitch

tbf, twitch gets spammed A LOT, Viera is just the hot topic right now. If it weren't that it'd be the usual "butt sliders when"

Also, I am pretty sure I've said this before, but anyone's reasons to unsub are their own, and no one is forced to purchase something they don't care about. When I was in that camp it was more about a series of decisions I did not agree with and have always hated gender locks, so that was the proverbial straw. Then the media tour happened and I fell in love with Dancer so here I am (and Lauront pointed out that, if the new races are a hit and the expansion does well, there's extra incentive to make the missing genders).

It also followed that some of the more vocal posters were getting prodded in a "if you care so much, just unsub" way, and when they announced their intentions to do so, were mocked. People just bite back when they're poked, and end up poking back and it just becomes an endless cycle of nagging and baiting and annoyance.

Also also, to your original question (which I also feel like I've answered previously) if there were NO new race in ShB there would have been some grumbling from all the sides that wanted a new one, but there wouldn't be the TEASING of "they exist...lore-wise... you're just not going to see them!" there is now. So about two weeks of "Awww, this could've been the perfect chance to include Viera/Aegyl/Moogles/Ronso/Burmecians/what-have-you" then died down in 2 weeks.
