Well, I did make my first viera thread a few years ago so... I have requested it for a very long time personally.
I wouldn't unsub over it because I like this game.

Yes, but I've seen people threaten, or rather just say they will unsub if male viera don't get announced. Why were people who say something like this playing the game, if a race that was never in this game, and for a gender that never existed at all (or rather appeared before) in the first place? You can make a request and want something - which is the reason female viera were introduced in the first place, but I don't understand this other logic.

I think it's fine for people to refuse to subscribe to the game for any reason they so please. I do, however, lose any sympathy when they have public meltdowns - which was unfortunately very common earlier on in the thread.Yes, but I've seen people threaten, or rather just say they will unsub if male viera don't get announced. I'd like to see the missing genders added to the game but if it doesn't happen I won't lose any sleep over it. It's just not a huge deal for me and I'm not invested on a personal level. Even if the game crashes and burns in the immediate future - which I find unlikely - there's a lot to look forward to in the future such as Cyberpunk 2077 and FF7R. Not to mention other hobbies to indulge in.

That's another problem too, the "public meltdown". I'm taking a lot of the comments as threats, "give me or I unsub", and a lot of people who have grown tired of some male viera supporters I think are thinking the same thing. People should continue to be requesting what they want in a respectful manner, and more people would hear them out, along with SE.I think it's fine for people to refuse to subscribe to the game for any reason they so please. I don't agree, I don't want this game to crash and burn, nor would there be a replacement in the near future for this game if it did. It fills a niche that only it can do.

They may not be recently in this specific thread, but male viera apparently gets spammed all over twitch, and has been said in the past here along with the "homophobia" comments . People have long memories and when they think of a male viera supporter they default to comments like these. Judging by the amount of posts made this morning, and some of the context of the posts I read, it seems to still be at a strong level and people are attacking each other on both sides, which is ultimately unhealthy for the concept of male viera in the future. There is a reason this thread is so heavily moderated, because talks always seem to devolve into bickering.

You were talking about unsub comments specifically, and I was just saying I haven't seen any comments like those being made recently on here.

tbf, twitch gets spammed A LOT, Viera is just the hot topic right now. If it weren't that it'd be the usual "butt sliders when"
Also, I am pretty sure I've said this before, but anyone's reasons to unsub are their own, and no one is forced to purchase something they don't care about. When I was in that camp it was more about a series of decisions I did not agree with and have always hated gender locks, so that was the proverbial straw. Then the media tour happened and I fell in love with Dancer so here I am (and Lauront pointed out that, if the new races are a hit and the expansion does well, there's extra incentive to make the missing genders).
It also followed that some of the more vocal posters were getting prodded in a "if you care so much, just unsub" way, and when they announced their intentions to do so, were mocked. People just bite back when they're poked, and end up poking back and it just becomes an endless cycle of nagging and baiting and annoyance.
Also also, to your original question (which I also feel like I've answered previously) if there were NO new race in ShB there would have been some grumbling from all the sides that wanted a new one, but there wouldn't be the TEASING of "they exist...lore-wise... you're just not going to see them!" there is now. So about two weeks of "Awww, this could've been the perfect chance to include Viera/Aegyl/Moogles/Ronso/Burmecians/what-have-you" then died down in 2 weeks.

It didn't work with BLU, it wouldn't work with mViera. That's another problem too, the "public meltdown". I'm talking about threatening to unsub, btw
