Disagreed. They will most likely look like the concept art, not like your signature which is much more bulky.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that, especially when the concept art of the 3 models arrayed next to one another is similar in build to that. I think we’ve disagreed on that before but I maintain you can’t really argue that that concept art is not similarly bulky, when one of the figures is similar to Au Ra in its build.

I'm not surprised, given your apparent tastes. At any rate, I don't think there is much appetite for male viera to be designed in the way that you are suggesting. I think lalafell are more to your tastes if what you desire is an unusually proportioned playable race with the capability for very androgynous design elements.

What is really wrong with the artwork? The faces may look a bit strange (but Viera are no humans either) but otherwise the body itself is just that of a slim person with maybe the neck being a bit off but as Senn pointed out, these are sketches. Nothing else on that artwork is bad and we have simply no clue on what the demand would be. (And I am not sure how you see Lalas being something that Senn wants when he has pointed out Omega M countless of times which is the body type of that Viera artwork with a correct neck)

In the end the most played male characters are the kittens and the hyurs, so I kinda doubt that there would not be a demand in that part for male Viera.

Roes themselves are the second least played male characters, only the male Au Ra are worse. Yet those that like bulky men are going to get Hrothgar on top of that, so I doubt that the last male would be another one of those. I also doubt that they would be smaller than female Au Ra. Everything else is imo still open, so I dont think we should say that there is not much appetite for such a male Viera when its mostly about Omega type body which would fit quite nicely in the game and would make them quite similiar to the female Viera. And seeing how most people are playing the more slender or normal built men but at the same time those dont have well proportioned tall men, I feel that this is exactly the place where male Vieras would fit.

Edit: Seemingly Roe do land behind Au Ra if you only look at the active players so its even worse for them.

And lets not forget that even if not many use the forum the amount of likes is still a good indicator because you can often use the forum to see a slice of the fanbase itself. We were not many that posted about things like Shirogane housing desaster, egi glamour, bunny suit for men and more and yet the constant asking and in case of the housing, the huge rage that was going on, brought change. Why? Because the forum can represent the view of the masses. (That is how representative survey works) I am not sure why some people dont understand that you dont need to get an answer from everyone and that a certain amount even just on a forum can be a good hint.

On the other hand, players that are happy with the product (or is not a big deal for them) are less compelled to post about it and if they do are quickly told to do it in another topic. And if they do that some angry defenders or the other option are going to antagonize them (this already happened not long ago about skinny vs bulky).

And no, I'm not saying people coming and posting "I don't want X", more like instead of X I prefer Y (as an example, instead of new races I much rather like the current ones to be giving more options). And no, "why not both?" is not a realistic approach.

This is the double standards I'm talking about. Why is it a female character is allowed to be all of these things but men can't? If you have no problem with one and you do with the other how are you not a hypocrite? Not every man is a huge beefy dude! Some of us MEN are 5'6" and a 120 pounds with a young face at 22, we are still men and if we want a character that represents us that is okay. You added a stigma to that body not us!

Ultimately I never wanted that body type. I want something to match the females but the thinly veiled hypocrisy is so clear! The fact that people USED children to discredit other people opinion is repugnant.

When did I say I have no problem with females being like that? Nothing of the description I mentioned points out a specific gender so don't put words in my mouth. People DID use Alphinaud and Alisaie as reference, they explicitly said so, so it's not used to discredit someone's opinion they literally wanted to play a child-like character. That's why the whole debate started and probably most of it has been deleted to bury the topic since Yoshi P himself had to stand up and say No.

Point is, short + slim + youthful + androgynous = looks like a minor = definitely a no no from SE. Lalas can [debatably] pass because they don't look like kids, they're some chibi looking dwarf race.

Also I love how more than once it seems that because I play a Roe I have no right to speak in this matter. Fun fact - I'm 5'3 irl, but I digress.

I higly higly doubt that both of the missing gender threads being the most liked ever threads, the most talked about and requested feature, and the higest demand for something in the game is all a coincidence.

Going from the previous conversation that was brought up, I will say again that while I like Omega M, remember that his muscle development is his armour. Look closely at his arms etc. The delicate coils and the tautness is the armour; it's not him. It could just be argued that that's only his model, but seeing as he's an edited Midlander/Elezen model - well yeah. So, when folks say they like Omega Ms body type. I'm curious about what you mean. Like the illusion of the muscle development Omega M has? The fact he's very slim and the likes? Keep in mind that he also looks outstanding because he's over 8ft tall.

There was also the topic of elegance. And yeah, I've said this plenty of times that assassins move with elegance and are depicted as such in games. It's less about 'looking like kings and queens' but more as if they move with such finesse that you're wowed by it. This is different from the females who are elegant in appearance. However, Yoshida said this was about appearance - not mannerisms... food for thought.

I wouldn't mind at all if the males looked very very similar to the females, or were like OmegaM, but I personally prefer Lauront's signature male viera. As for animations, I'd like either femenine but deadly or elegant and graceful

Does anyone else find it crazy that this thread has reached 620 pages within a year? Seriously the only thread I know that has more pages is the show your miqo'te one.

Honestly, I am more amazed that the bickering has continued. This is the internet, so perhaps I shouldn't have had such lofty expectations here, but I would have expected that part to die down early on and then have this thread present a more unified, positive vibe surrounding the male Viera.

I haven't been reading this thread daily for awhile, so when I do check it I will go back and read several pages, and there's just so much squabbling over personal preferences with some thinly-veiled digs tossed in for good measure. Not saying every post is this, but there is good amount.
