Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Yoshida or someone else said in interviews that the majority of BLU and associated content was designed by one person that's not even on the battle system team, and that it wasn't going to happen otherwise?

It did feel like something that it was designed against the will and better judgment of the dev team. The generic cast animations and AF gear that looked like its rough draft version was drawn in crayon seem to speak to that as well.
Ultimately, I still like the idea of Limited Jobs. It's a way of letting players have an alternative experience in the game with things that players wouldn't otherwise get their hands on. The only real problem is that Blue Mage needs its own roulette to provide more evergreen content.
Setting the level cap to 50 instead of 60 might also be a big factor. Response might have been more favorable if people could have run Palace of the Dead and/or Diadem with Blue Mage.Ultimately, I still like the idea of Limited Jobs.
