The guy who asked that question is a bit of a dick. His article about the US fan-fest made it clear he's not exactly a fan of the game or the people who play it.

In general:

I’ve actually made some good friends standing around at the quicksands, even though I don’t rp. Granted I do get the occasional daddy comments in tells from thirsty sprouts. My favorite was when world visit was brand new, a cat boy from Mateus got upset because I wasn’t interested in having an erp session with them.

I only just came across this interview while looking up more details on the MP/TP merger, which is dicussed in this interview also.

Press: On the subject of battle system revisions, you announced that MP and TP will be merged into a single resource. Are there other user interface changes in the works as well?

Yoshida: As you are no doubt aware, MMORPGs feature quite a few elements that players have to keep track of mid-battle: damage-over-time effects, ability cooldowns, buffs and debuffs, etc. Adding in yet another layer of resource management would be very challenging for the development team. To your point about MP and TP being merged, that isn’t necessarily a monumental task from an engineering standpoint, but we have to be extremely careful with how it will affect job balance. Even so, the party window still needs an overhaul, and the UI team is giving it their all to make sure everything comes together nicely.

lol, this is how I approach Uldah as well. I don't mind RP, I just don't partake in in myself. And then I feel sort of guilty/bad if I'm loitering in the area as to me it then feels like I'm trying to trick them into thinking I'm there for something when I'm not? Obviously it shouldn't matter, but there is no helping how the mind works. :x

What about it bothers you? You created a post about some very old and innocuous news, but do not give proper voice to anything thoughts or suggestions. Do you disagree with him? If so Why? If not, are your bothered because you don't see evidence of enforcement? Creating a thread and simply stating: "Here is a situation, I do not care for it" does not kindle good conversation.

I don't know if you know this but that was a press interview for iirc about an hour where several different people, content creators and media like Gamerescape and Reddit, got to ask Yoshi-P questions.

No one there appreciated the brothel question, no one reading about a wasted opportunity to ask him about the newly announced Shadowbringers liked it, and no one liked the guy's article of FanFest.

Yeah, the Quicksand certainly attracts certain...'types' of RP, but you can find actual good RP there as well.

I guess I should count myself lucky that the most I tend to get there are vague comments about my characters looking nice and nothing overtly sexual.

Oh don't get me wrong, no judgement to those who RP (a number of my friends are also big RP advocates) - it's just not something I want to do when playing the game. That and I don't want to interrupt the world they've set up themselves by being the guy jumping up and down and saying "lol brah I don't want no ERP (/RP) in your cottage, Thal's sweet succor has to wait". Because I know other people are doing this sort of stuff I tend to go out of my way not to run my character and mounts through their body or run on top of tables (which I'd totally do if this was a sRPG.. skyrim tables and counters are not safe from me! ).

I actually came to Balmung via Besaid / Fabul server merge before I knew of RP server and what all (long ago). I've found there is a sort of undercurrent of prejudice to RP players, which even flows onto me occasionally mostly from people seeing I'm from Balmung and imagining not only do I spend most of my time RP/ERPing but that I also forced my way into the server and it's all my fault that Balmung has a housing crisis (none of which is true lol). Good stuff .

You get it! hahaha. Early on I had walked away from my PC and came back to a number of /tells of people attempting to strike up a conversation, in which I had ignored them (away from keyboard ofc).. I felt sheepish lol.

While it is a different sort of topic than we've had lately, it's not new and not that refreshing. But as others have asked: why make a new thread and not discuss it in the threads that were made about it when it was a hot topic for all of two days? Not enough drama on the forums and you want to cause some new flavor?
