I try so hard to like ffxi. But i couldnt get into it. Areas in this game are far too large. It takes so long to get point a to point b

I agree and nice! yea the desperate slug shot is awesome ;P been there its very niceOh there's definitely good points about modern XI, and I honestly wouldn't want to go back to much of the archaic game design from its original era. That ship has long sailed into the sunset where it belongs.
Just like XI in its heyday had some of the most immersive and (to us) meaningful achievements and goals in gaming. It's like let's just stop telling people their personal experience in this multifacted game was WRONG ya know? Also hell yeah to clearing divine might with rng, cleared apocalypse nigh as the last man standing as rng (desperate final slug shot lol)
It is a large areas game indeed but its far less than it used to be by this i mean, you can warp from home point to home point now, theres teleports\recalls spells, theres survival guides, you can use content warps, unity, voidwatch, campaign battles, theres items, can synergize city earrings if you have a friend able to help, theres nexus cape, bcnm warps. also as far as movement goes by itself, you get options you can flee on thief, you can also rest and get sprint buff in the right super kupopower time : Swift Shoes: Adventurers who are fully rested and healed will temporarily be able to run with great speed!
After resting while fully healed, the next resting tick will add the Swift Shoes effect. The effect will increase in duration and movement speed as a player rests for more ticks.
The initial tick grants +10% movement speed; each tick thereafter adds 2%, up to a maximum of +20%. ALSO you can get sprinter shoes! Lv1 all jobs.
Theres many many ways, all im saying here is that it takes a bit of time but once you memorized paths and unlocked access , traveling is super quick. My comment is just to say that past traveling to checkpoints for the first time, zoom zoom.

Hubby started at PS2 launch, I joined about 6 months later. We stopped about the same time 1.0 hit for many reasons, rl and game wise.
Loved that game. The group we played with was tight, dynamis 2x a week, static groups, limbus, and more I'm having trouble remembering. I was so excited when i got my pimp hat. And the Tenzin fight i cleared with 1 second left. I could go on.
With both XI and XIV, I managed to end up on the most popular servers completely by chance (Balmung = 1.0 merge, Asura = this is where my coworker played).
For those of you who are still playing XI, how do you feel about your servers?
Quite pleased with Phoenix.

I'm playing FFXI right now as I wished I played FFXI during it's Prime, but didn't have the money to get a decent PC/PS2 and internet at the time
Asura is the biggest server right now but the community is very toxic, especially a person named Spicyryan.i would avoid him
But I'm enjoying ffxi slowly. It's sad becuase I've been playing this game for months and just playing with trusts and it get lonely, I'm level 86 dancer trying to get to 99
Phoenix has ~500 players on average, reaching close to 800 at primetime. With trusts and a small linkshell I have no issues with content.
As I understand it even though I could be wrong they will be only available when you do the dungeonsHmmm I am not(Game is still alive and theres no when it was best,ITS STILL THE BEST), I'm just mentionning something that would hppen back then that you might not see again, but current game is still just as good. You can still build an alliance if you want even tho trusts are a thing.
Ps: And btw, I am not in favor of trusts in xiv but to each his own.
