All this makes me wonder... are emotes even safe to use? If someone is doing something obviously stupid in group content and I /slap them, can I get reported for offending them? I mean I just literally character to character slapped them in the face. But I cant say curse words, lol working as intended.

This is just one of the many reasons why XIV's ToS enforcement is trash.

Anyone with a brain is not going to try to retaliate against someone after they've been reported once, so trying to "protect" the one who reported somebody by refusing to elaborate on ToS violations is really stupid.

Who knows, but there are definitely people who will report you for it.

Not to mention the very basic fact that the whole process in which this is done equals a kangaroo court approach. You don't even have room or space to defend against allegations made, or argue your personal case in said situation. This equals "You've been accused of being offensive/inappropriate, we've confirmed your guilt, therefore, here's your warning".

The issue in that approach is glaring. Any one with a report happy finger can get people now banned within a short timeframe, all they need to do is to declare any controversial statement or thought others make as 'Offensive', and get the GM's to do their bidding.
Sighs. Lemme put it this way. I seen players report others, just for the lulz to see if something happens, usually making up a story like, "That guy keeps petting his dog minion in front of me, that is a grave offense to my religion" ok thats just one example, and sure enough the guy "reported" got a 3 day ban.

It sucks, I know, you may have had similar happen to you, its why alot of players realized it, and now only keeps to themselves, to friends, to fc, or let it all out in pvp since pvp is mostly always toxic, gms tend to ignore anything out of it.

    Just....let....it...go. Its not worth it.

He doesn't need to know WHAT he said. He just needs to keep his mouth shut. They specifically DO NOT tell you WHAT you said because they don't want the other party to be harassed again.

I find the way you're talking about me offensive at this point.

Theres plenty of snowflakes in every game these days.

If one doesn't understand what this does and doesn't cover, one ought not say anything. If one does understand, then one is assuming the risk for anything one chooses to say. Nobody forces one to use colorful language in their speech.

And if one wants to argue that they can't say anything without people getting offended, yes, these rules are in place because the devs and GMs have a vested interest in protecting players from exactly that sort of person.

You can get banned from most every game for language that is tolerated and considered acceptable as young as the elementary school level.

You can also get banned for saying things a reasonable person would find completely inoffensive, because "reasonable people" arent those who generally report or flag things.

If the other party had a brain between their ears to begin with they would have just black listed him and been done with it. You're gonna sit here and say it's okay to punish someone without telling them what they're specifically being punished for?

I find it kind of sad that people are seriously trying to defend how poorly ToS violations are handled in XIV when it's standard for MMOs to elaborate on offenses so that they aren't repeated in the future.
