GM Warning for 'Offensive Language', No actual reason given

reading up the from start to finish... offensive or foul language... umm... get thicker skin? wait.. i'm getting penalized for someone turning off their profanity filter??? HOW IS THAT MY FAULT THAT THE MORON TURNED IT OFF? I rarely talk to other people in game thanks to an incident that happened to me in wheeping city.. everyone was laughing.. someone got butt hurt and reported me and a friend... yeah.. i don't talk much anymore.. here's the thing in any online playing game the online interaction is not rated by the ESRB.. so why the bloody hell.. are we being forced to speak in G format? You find my language offensive... turn on the bloody profanity filter.. oh.. then why not block me? I'm sorry.. what? think of the children? I REPEAT ONLINE INTERACTION IS NOT RATED BY THE ESRB. ppl curse.. ppl trash talk.. that's just what they do... so if they can't take someone randomly cussing.. playing online is not for them... Now... if they were being harassed and trolled.. sure report them.. but seriously... sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you... SE really needs to reword that ToS agreement... It's vague as all hell, and it completely turns off the social aspect of this game.. Oh you can't use offensive or foul language.. I repeat.. DO YOU KNOW HOW VAGUE THAT SOUNDS? Offensive language.... is so broad spectrum, you cough and that can be constrewed as offensive to the right people... not even joking.. so i can completely understand where the OP is coming from on how confusing that warning is..

Anything that isn't literally "PG" can be acted upon at a GM's discretion. Don't bother at all, you literally can be banned. I wish I was joking here. The profanity filter doesn't matter.

See, the problem with this mentality, is that profanity is against the rules period. The filter is there as an extra layer of protection, not an excuse.

The profanity filter is not there so you can freely use profanity. It's there so others don't have to see it on those occasions when you can't control yourself.

We can reverse that as well. If you can't communicate with others without resorting to use of random profanity, then perhaps online gaming is not for you.

The gaming company sets the rules for what is allowed within their chat channels, not you. Most gaming companies have provisions within their ToS expressly prohibiting use of profanity in public chat channels.

It's not up to the rest of us to conform to what you want. It's up to you to conform to the rules set by those running the game. If you don't want to conform then don't play the game, or take your chances with getting banned if you want to push your luck.

Yes, but that profanity filter is on by default. By clicking it off you are saying you are mature enough to handle profanity. If you can't handle profanity, then why are you turning it off? And if profanity is against ToS automatically then why the hell isn't it just being filtered at all times? It's annoying to have words bleeped when you're chatting in a private conversation with friends.

I'm meant for only public chats. If its such an issue and against Tos then maybe I shouldn't be able to use the f bomb in the middle of a raid or in the middle of limsa lominsa.

All this makes me wonder... are emotes even safe to use? If someone is doing something obviously stupid in group content and I /slap them, can I get reported for offending them? I mean I just literally character to character slapped them in the face. But I cant say curse words, lol working as intended.

Who knows, but there are definitely people who will report you for it.

Squat emote is a bad implementation, it allows people to sexualize and sexual harass people in PvP. Meaning, what people known it as "tea bagging". Just had it happened in all my time of PvP prior to this, I have never been experience such rude behavior. SE should remove this emote!!!

This is just one of the many reasons why XIV's ToS enforcement is trash.

Anyone with a brain is not going to try to retaliate against someone after they've been reported once, so trying to "protect" the one who reported somebody by refusing to elaborate on ToS violations is really stupid.
