The dual 5970 is nothing special, kinda a waste of GPU for XIV.. it does not used the crossfire/SLI well at all, the coding is piss poor for that.

If I am using both cards, turn on all max settings, my GPU's get up to 100C, but running with my settings I have I barely reach 65C and I run the system 24/7. CPU never gets hot, the liquid cooling works well. I need to look into Liquid cooling my video cards but the cost and space just aren't worth a few FPS.

I got a really good deal on this computer, slightly used about $2400. I couldn't pass the deal up, too much power for the price. (Plus I was looking to upgrade anyways for XIV since in Alpha/Beta/Open Beta I could barely run the system on my old computer)

Anyone out there get 60FPS with Ambient On? I'm curious what beast would run this.

Nah, You have to play in full screen for crossfire/SLI to work, same with every game. I can max everthing with AA at 8x except turn on ambient on and it runs smoothly. I have to turn my settings down a bit when i play windowed since only one card gets utilized in windowed mode.

Are you sure about this? Using windowed actually uses ONE vid. card instead of the two?.... Confirm me this please

I did the FFXIV benchmark high res. it does it in windowed mode, and I saw both GPU's running.

It even says in the Crossfire manual that it wont work windowed or cloned. and i do get much better performance playing in full screen.

Thanks, then I'm guessing it depends on each individual's configurations and/or drivers installed and stuff.
