Since I am older than 31, by a few years, and ff7 was my first introduction to the ff franchise, and a game I've played through probably at least a dozen times.. Yes, I'm definitely going to call bull on trying to use that as an analogy.

Because they have no substantive argument. Only feelings and emotion, which by their very nature are usually illogical.

If you want a serious example, there's one from this game: the man in Kugane that falls in love with a yaro-kabuki performer. It's one of the more involved and heart-warming Stormblood sidequests.

A bad idea is better than no idea. Implying that because SE had a character which crossdressed in a game 22 years ago they've somehow regressed on social issues is indeed a bad analogy. I mean, let's not forget the antagonists were ready to "knock the crap" out of Cloud for his transgenderism. It's not like they said "Oh he's so cute, almost had us fooled"

What you're asking for here is infinitely less reasonable when it comes to workload, nor does it offer further uniqueness when it limits options so severely (see: Black Desert's per-class outfits). There is no way SQX can consistently make unique gear for every race and gender in a game this huge. It's just not possible in a game of this magnitude.

I don't think this request has anything to do workloads. I'm fully aware that designing 8 pieces of gear is about 8x the work than one piece of gear.
But if you miss the idea of uniqueness, I can't see how you don't see it, to be frank. There'd be 14 unique outfits floating around the world instead of one. Hell, even compared to 14 all-wearable outfits (which negates your workload complaint) you'd still be seeing something more unique as limitations drive creativity. Putting together something unique to you allows you to be you, and not the other 13 racialgenders out there. Right now you and I can equip the Miqo'te Loincloth and have a mini skirt on any other outfit we desire. That's unique to us. If everyone had access to it, then it loses it's value as something unique. It's just another drop in the ocean of gear rather than the big catch of the day.

You then go on to say say that it's impossible for them to create it, but it's not impossible. I don't know if you thought I meant EVERY piece of gear, that's certainly unreasonable. But to add another RSE set or two would be lovely and far within means of reasonable requests.

I actually like gender-locked stuffed because I prefer very feminine-outfits and most of the time that devs decide to make something "genderless" it's mostly tomboyish and not really my cup of tea.

Ideally we could have a lot of different designs leaning towards different tastes so since this is not the case... I would rather keep the genderlock-mindset while designing something than getting pants to wear on my AF sets.

However, for special cases such as NPC/special characters gears then yeah, I guess that having those things gender-locked is a bit eh.

I definitely don't want to take away the pretty dresses or other femme attire; we don't have enough of the former, honestly. It's more that the balance has kind of ended up skewed over time, and I do miss SQX's attempt at maintaining an outfit's look across the spectrum like they used to. See: older tank AFs (masculine) vs. older BRD AFs (feminine); each one remains the same regardless of your character's gender.

There is always value in more options that don't hurt anyone. Unfortunately the perpetual echo chamber seems to be too hung up on sociopolitical insecurities to consider that when the precedent has been set for a very long time now. Unfortunately that's this forum with anything that slightly colors outside of the perceived lines.
