Perhaps I’m the one who does rare things... I picked up this game at its beginning specifically because I liked the hyur midlander mascot.Again, you're not following the train of thought you present with the topic of "Fantasia addicts".
Ok, so lets pretend to be a "Fantasia addict" who buys a potion to change every week.
New race comes out ... what do we do?
A- Use my 1 potion a week on jumping into a new race and buy potions as often as I normally would
B- Buy TWICE as many potions for now on cause now I wanna change every 3 days instead of every 7
Why would you do B? What would prompt you to now buy more potions more often when you already buy WAY more than normal? You can tweak and twerk all day in the Benchmark or through making an alt for much of the broad information about how things look in game and things become pretty clear with a lil leg work. No reason to up your "Fantasia addiction" for a new race. If you're already changing appearances often you're just gonna keep doing that but with more choices each time.
As for new subs there's no way to tell how many people would buy the game and pay the sub just for a race. That seems like it would be an very rare answer for why you picked up a MMO. Again, if this were purely profitable then why would a company with far more incentive to make a profit than you look at the numbers and say "nope, no more races after this. Can't handle it"? Why do other successful MMOs not add them?
Cause the pay off for that effort isn't worth the work it requires. So for us to get what we're getting is truly a gift and labor of love to expand the ways players can express themselves.
Now, I cycle through my character’s race about once a month, at least.

Again.. you are speculating. The quote is:I'm honestly quite surprised that some ppl are now giving the idea that hey would only make NPCs of the missing genders, and I think it's quite obvious that wouldn't be the case, and that once we see a male Viera or fem hrotgar npc we can pretty much confirm they are coming.
This is based on how Yoshida said that one of the main reasons they went for female Viera instead of female hrotgar was because they knew they couldn't add a Viera npc and not add the race because the red be outrage from players saying: but you have it right here!
Nothing about the NPC.ince this may be the last time we add new races, we spent a long time deliberating which race would be the best addition. Fans worldwide have shown an overwhelming desire for FFXII’s Viera, and we have long been aware of this fact. In fact, we considered adding Viera back in Heavensward, but eventually decided that, since that was FFXIV’s first expansion, we should instead add an all-new original race—the Au Ra. If we were to add yet another race rather than the Viera, we anticipated that many fans would be disappointed, and so we decided to try and satisfy their request in this expansion. The desire to please our fans is the primary reason behind this decision.
Yes they want to please the fans, but if it comes down to it, rather than gimping the story because "hey if we show them ONE we HAVE to make the rest" , I think they'd cobble something together like Yugiri's earlier appearance. No assets used but you KNOW what they are.
You can stomp your feet and lie to yourself, but when push comes to shove if they get a NO from on high. It ain't happening. They might be able to cram a few easter eggs in, but they will not have the resources to do an entire gender.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I would find it so bad to have them as NPCs in the game but never give the players the chance to play them. At least with beast tribes both genders cant and at least they have some reasons to not be playable. But a race that exists, is human enough, can go around the cities and that has one gender available to play and then just put the rest out of NPCs? Thats just horrible.I'm honestly quite surprised that some ppl are now giving the idea that hey would only make NPCs of the missing genders, and I think it's quite obvious that wouldn't be the case, and that once we see a male Viera or fem hrotgar npc we can pretty much confirm they are coming.

I mean its like the bunny suit. Have none in the game: Maybe some people request it as glamour. Have one for one gender: Opposite site might want it. Have one for one gender and put it on the NPC but not for the players: Huge storm incoming. I mean how bad would it be to have certain glamours that males wanted but instead of giving them to the playerbases like the females got, they can see it only on NPCs? And I would dare and say that races are much bigger than that.
So only NPCs if they can provide it later for us, otherwise you will just make a full blown out rage storm.

Couple that with no graphics upgrades and I might not have the ‘resources’ to sub to the game anymore. Funny how that works.Again.. you are speculating. The quote is:

Trust me that them teasing them as NPCS and then saying no would be even worse than fanfestAgain.. you are speculating. The quote is:

Cool. Your choice. It happens. I stopped playing a lot of games when they ceased to hold my attention. I know I'd love a graphics update, item system overhaul and the rest.. but if they keep releasing story and gameplay I enjoy, I dunno. I'll be around for a while. Come whatever may all the false hopes in the world won't change anything but your own disappointment.
That wouldn't be a tease though. If they outright declared that the NPC was the ONLY instance of that gender in the game, the problem would entirely be with people making up their own incorrect assumptions.

No false hopes. I’m under no illusions that they will necessarily add either.
