I actually think this would be a step at least in the right direction and an easy fix for them to implement. That they haven't done this (which i guess we will find out in ShB) to me is more suspect. That said, it would possibly make the disappointment more palpable and would also rob them of any hype generation should they wish to add them later. I think the way Yoshi p has responded implies that it is likely we will get them at some point. The Dev team routinely go out of their way to provide what the fans want, i cant see this being any different. One solution would be maybe to have all gear under level 50 just display as the racial armour to start with. Which would cut the amount of work they need to do quite considerably.

But then i don't think its the issue of updating all that gear, that's part of it, but it seems its more the issue around keeping the patch cycles on a 3.5 month release schedule. Arguably, this is going to become more of a problem in 6.0 with further jobs. Could be that Yoshi P is simply waiting to see how ShB does before committing vast resources to their development. Which to me makes sense. If ShB cans then they wont have the resource, but if it does well (and fantasia sales on mogstation rocket) gives more justification to allocating that resource.

The problem with his answer is that it is limited in the scope of why they choose the current genders, it is not a response to why they won't add the missing ones. That, i think makes all the difference and gives me confidence we may see them someday.

Afterall, look at their response to the headgear - if that doesn't show their dedication, nothing will.

Then again, I could be completely wrong, its speculation either way.

Yeah, I don't think it's crazy to look at things and come to the conclusion that adding the other genders is on the table right now I just think it's silly to assume they're coming especially within any specific time frame.

As to linking their implementation to the success of ShB... I feel kind of stupid that I haven't thought of that, honestly. It's a really fair way to measure player demand, at least for male Viera. I'd even wager you could take something like the number of players fantasiaing into fViera proportional to the number of fMiqote and mMiqote to get a rough estimate as to how many direct fantasia sales could be expected from mViera release.

Elezen need so much work. The heads are too small. The necks are too long. The female's shoulders are too broad. The arms are too long. The faces on the men are gaunt and ugly. The run animations are stiff and terrible. The emotes generally are uninteresting and bad. They are too tall. I think Elezen (being elves) could be a very popular race if they fixed them. I know some people say they like them how they are but they are a minority. I want to play one so badly but I never last a week and end up switching back. PLEASE FIX THEM...

I highly doubt we'll see them at 6.0. They already said not to expect anything at the moment and that no promises were made that they'd ever add them. If anything, 7.0 at the earliest is the most reasonable expectation.

Well I doubt they are going to wait 4 years to do something that shouldn't take them more than 1.5 years to do, and thats without consider they will be using reused assets. The only reason why we don't have them tight now is because they don't know if they'll be able to keep up the patch cycle, but I think the devs will figure something out(if they haven't already) before 6.0

If they said there's no promises to ever add them, how is 7.0 any more reasonable? If they wait too long to add the race/gender they actually risk making it an impossibility, because there's no point adding features to a game which has surpassed its peak, after the point where these features remain/can be profitable, as we saw with FFXV and the cancelled DLCs relating to it. The same exact problem applies with respect to more general graphics upgrades, probably more so, since failure to reinvest there soon enough could hasten its eventual decline.

I believe all they're saying is they can't promise anything before seeing how 5.0 shapes up. If it flops, it may be difficult to justify reinvestment in the game in many areas, nevermind adding the missing gender. If it does well, then they can re-assess what they want to do with the missing genders, once they know how much SE is willing to spend on that, if anything.

That's why I believe that, if they can justify them, we may see them for 6.0 because the longer the wait, the harder it is to implement them in the first place, given the higher amount of gear sets, animations, and emotes to test before initial release.

This is actually why I'm sticking around till 6.0 at the very least. I want M Viera, but if the game flops, we'll never get it. We'll also likely never see another Final Fantasy mmo if this one fails. I'm confident in the developers ability to add the missing genders for 6.0.

Yeah, it's more if 5.0 is a success and there still isn't re-investment in areas which I'd like to see that I will re-consider my sub.

That is the main reason I will continue to support the game through permanent subscription. If by 6.0 we haven't seen the missing genders, I will buy the cheap version of the expansion, reduce my sub to the most limited one, and drop my sub between patches, but I have confidence the devs will manage something! ^^

He didn't outright say no but he also said "not right now" which likely means they won't have that on their scope of work anytime soon. And I know this has been said before, but the dev team put their foot down on the child character ideas, so if they were going to give us a definitive no on M Viera, they would have done so in that very same letter.
