I guess we should all strap ourselves in and brew some coffee, this thread will probably live on till 6.0.
No one said that you couldn't be upset about their decision regarding the races nor is it hard to understand why you would be upset. I just personally view it as odd that you would forgo a entire expansion just because they didn't add a particular gender for a new race. I also think it's a bit ridiculous to claim that they somehow disrespected or slighted you because of their decision.
They have already explained several times over for their design decision behind the new races, they wanted to give people the long awaited Viera race and a more beast-like race that people have been asking for since the games inception. They didn't have the time or resources to get both genders for both races out in time for the expansion, so they decided to put out one gender for both races. They also never said that they aren't ever going to give viera and hrothgar their male and female counterparts respectively and I have a hard time believing that they won't.
I think people are too focused on it being a gender locked issue when it's not. It was a time constraint and resource issue. I have no doubt in my mind that if SE had the time and resources to get both genders out for both the races before the expansion launches that they would have done so, If they didn't they would have put in a more concrete statement that they aren't adding the other genders. Just like with the issue with Miqote, I'm sure that we will get male viera and female hrothgar, It's just a matter of time.
For example: Dancer not being a healer (apparently this disappointed people), male Hrothgar being announced instead of male Viera (this was more of a very pleasant surprise to me as I had pretty much given up hope on a bestial race being playable), Blue Mage and maybe even Eureka.
Based on what Yoshi-P has said, I think it might be more realistic to expect male Viera and female Hrothgar in 7.0.
EEeeeeem... even expecting 6.0 or 7.0 is.. kinda.. optimistic. At some point the updates will stop. At some point the game will be put in stasis. Lets go with what we KNOW is coming =]For example: Dancer not being a healer (apparently this disappointed people), male Hrothgar being announced instead of male Viera (this was more of a very pleasant surprise to me as I had pretty much given up hope on a bestial race being playable), Blue Mage and maybe even Eureka.

WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Oh, I was implying that if they ever do start working on them, 7.0 would probably be the earliest to expect them... either as a playable race, or as NPC's.
anyway

if i had to guess male viera and female hrothgar probably exist right now as names on a to-do list
It's kind of dangerous for them to say literal "yes" sadly, same as dangerous to say literal "no" (and well... saying strict "no" is not Japanese way of dealing with things anyway). With their recent schedule implementing new race already is a nightmare, and if they say "yes" to missing genders they will keep player base expectations very high. In case if suddenly they will realize that it's impossible after all or they have to change schedule for this, it will be a huge slap on them. So it's better to keep an open window in lore and act in a way "well, maybe at one day...".
Knowing Yoshi team, though, I see them doing work quietly and then just show him bunch of concepts and draft models with "So, what do we do?". I mean, look at those glasses, they didn't even notify him. I say it jokingly, actually, but will not be surprised at all in case if they will do so.
