In the end SE is about making money. I honestly don't think they will change ARR MSQ or questlines to streamline it they make money off those leveling and MSQ potions as its totally optional and that I am pretty sure those potions are not going off the mog station anytime soon.

Your friend has a couple of options.

Level and grind out the MSQ. To be honest it will not take as long as you think. Do refer a friend, FC buff, food, and if they got the ShadowB expansion they get that earring. Yes the bridge from the end of ARR to the start of HW sucks. its a 100 quests but by the time he is done he will be at 60 and can blow through HW and then blow through StormBlood in time for Shadowbringers.

Oh yea I done it a few times on alts, but honestly they are not going to get rid of the pots and books on the mog anytime soon especially if ARR and HW is free until early access for Shadowbringers.

not if you can go back and play it at your liesure. To be clear i obviously already have done msq. But every time a friend comes back, or a new friend joins, or i am in vchat with some other friend, there has always been complaints about having to do msq before they can do X. And the more expansions there are, the more things they cant do until they do X amount of msq, and the more time it requires.
