    Should speed runs come back?

In FFXIV 1.0 loot and number of chests in a dungeon was based on how fast you could finish a dungeon. Thus a speed run was required to get all the chests and the best loot.

Do you think that could be something they do for a change in 5.0 bring back speed runs give better or more loot for finishing faster? I think it could make dungeons more interesting if you got higher ilvl gear for finishing faster.

I think this could be good idea however it should be another level of dungeon compared to what we have now. Just thinking of the arguments between speed runners vs non speed runners in the same party. They would probably have to have a lock out to prevent gearing too quickly based on current paradigms.

More things to do is always welcome, but it should probably be something you have to explicitly queue for, so that you don't have people with conflicting goals in the same roulette. Maybe also make it require a full party, so that you don't get a whole bunch of toxic finger-pointing once a dungeon misses the goal by a few seconds. It would be neat if certain rarer items were more easily accessible through speedruns though, like a dungeon having a 50% chance of dropping a certain minion if you did it really fast or something.

If it's just dungeons, I don't think you really need to implement lockouts, the only thing dungeons are good for for high-end players is tokens, which are already weekly capped. If you're not doing progression raiding I don't think it really matters if the game lets you gear up a bit faster.

I added the lock out part because the OP specifically suggested that they would give higher rewards. Another option for higher rewards would be nice just to mix it up,imo, but we would have to be careful not to destroy the FFXIV gear curve.

People are always trying to suggest ways to get higher level gear while the gear leveling system is pretty much systemically written in stone and they aren't likely to change it. However, I could see a ranked speed run system similar to the feast with either glam or non-gear items as rewards with pre-made parties. But really, why not just do savage.

There would need to be some sort of separate DF with stringent gear checks to ensure successful speed run attempts and keep the different styles from butting heads which would just divide up the pool of party members. I'd be ok with it if it gave you a guaranteed drop in level cap dungeons (much like leveling dungeons now do) but not higher iLvl than non-speedrun dungeons. Personally though I'd prefer this doesn't come back as the reward for an efficient run is already sufficient enough.

Have something that involves that would be ok in my mind. But it should not be a thing for all runs and I do not think you should be rewarded extra gear or anything actually meaningful to progression.

Maby Beat a dungeon in X time and get an achievement. Beat all the released dungeons in the expansion in X time get a mount as a reward for said achievements or something. And put the requirement as Pre-Made party only else it will literally cause drama in every dungeon run, cause someone wants to watch CS's or someone is new and does not want to pull fast or they pull the wrong thing.

The way 1.0 did it, I think was more or less hated by most. It involved more or less skipping as much as possible, going in on optimal jobs only, and literally just rushing everything. If you did not do it, you literally got screwed on loot.

Only if it was done like mythic+ on WoW.

No thanks Mythic + was and still is poorly implimented and de-incentivizes actual raiding. Not to mention it was a ripoff from Diablo III

I won't deny that Mythic plus as it's designed in WoW de-incentivizes raiding but it's implementation was amazing. What people want is the challenging and fun aspects of mythic+ dungeons, which is doing the dungeon in a different way and at a faster pace with being rewarded for how you perform. FFXIV doesn't have titan forging, all they would have to do is put a cap on the gear so it isn't BiS or add new minions and glamour only attainable through that type of content. It's would serve as another avenue of progression that leads up to savage raiding/ultimates. If anything it could actually close the massive difficulty gap that the game kind of suffers from currently. All in all I think people honestly just want more challenging dungeons and to be rewarded for doing them.
