Honestly, that would only invite disaster. I mean, it sounds good on paper, but we already got a megathread ranting about bad DF encounters, and said rants would only double once people start using DF as practice speed runs and stressing others.

    Couldn't have said it better.

Most people already try to speedrun everything. What's the difference?

It would be neat if certain rarer items were more easily accessible through speedruns though, like a dungeon having a 50% chance of dropping a certain minion if you did it really fast or something.

If it's just dungeons, I don't think you really need to implement lockouts, the only thing dungeons are good for for high-end players is tokens, which are already weekly capped. If you're not doing progression raiding I don't think it really matters if the game lets you gear up a bit faster.
I added the lock out part because the OP specifically suggested that they would give higher rewards. Another option for higher rewards would be nice just to mix it up,imo, but we would have to be careful not to destroy the FFXIV gear curve.

To me the dungeon would be set to a tighter time limit to offer a challenge. Hell they could even up the difficulty to add in some extra spice. Right now the harder content is all 8man +. I think some harder 4man content could add a bit of variety into the usual mix.

Well DF is nothing but pugs so you should expect some issues there. If you want perfect runs just set up a PF or run a premade. We will never control who signs up for a DF. We can control who enters our premade or PF.

People are always trying to suggest ways to get higher level gear while the gear leveling system is pretty much systemically written in stone and they aren't likely to change it. However, I could see a ranked speed run system similar to the feast with either glam or non-gear items as rewards with pre-made parties. But really, why not just do savage.

It could be tied to the achievement system where you need to complete a dungeon while synced under a certain time limit. And you could get a nice reward from it like a minion.

I miss the sac pulls in 2.0 AK. They were so much fun. Even though i had crap gear and never amounted to much as a tank, i still have good memories from it.

Would be completely on board with this implementation, otherwise people would end up arguing and getting in fights about whether it was optimal , gearscore and blah blah.

Put it in a random queue so people might involuntarily get swept along with it?

party finder only mode, minimum ilevel. Problem though is, the dungeons arent designed to be that interesting when playing effeciently.
