Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I have an honest question, I keep seeing the term "missing" or "locked" genders, which implies that they were added then removed in some way or that they are implied to be implemented. The impressions that I have gotten is that they may be added in the future but no guarantees.

I know it's kind of late but there was a whole THING when the most comfortable term to use was "gender lock" (which in this case meant the races are locked to one gender), but then a faction started critisizing the term because for them it meant something else (like Dancer and Bard in Tactics being locked to females and males, respectively). The argument had really no point but semantics yet still some detractors rolled with it to discredit the support ("see? there's no gender lock! they never existed!").

A couple of us started to use "missing" in response, which is still accurate given that mViera/fHroth do exist in the Lore, they're just not playable. Hence: "missing" from view and/or gameplay.

As for the rest, as zeylos said: the XI team is not the XIV team, and Yoshi-P is much more open to player feedback (the XI team worked in 1.0... 'nuff said). IF the Dev team gets enough resources to pull it off, I believe we'll have playable mViera/fHroth, the "when" is the big question.

Over the past couple of weeks i kept going over male viera and female hrothgar and the more i thought about it the more my concerns rose i now have it in my head that if they do not come with 6.0 they probably will not ever come, this is due to the current issues surrounding female Viera and male Hrothgar these have been in development since around 4.1 yet on 5.0 release they will not have full access to headgear and they took far longer to polish the models than the Au Ra did.

So adding on another full expansion worth of gear and all of 6.0 this task gets far harder and we most definitely if they do release them with 6.0 have restrictions on gear (most likely headgear), well what if they wait till 7.0 then you got all gear from 1.0 to 7.0 to fit onto the models and if they struggling now and having the restrictions for 5.0 2 expansions behind that welp it looks dire and at this point work for these genders would absolutely be needed to start in 5.X lifecycle to be remotely ready for 7.0 especially if they keep sticking to the patch cycle time frame of 3-4 months, and i don't think the masses or SE board would accept an increase to that time scale yet.

TLDR: my only hope for these genders is 6.0 as any further than that and work for them would have to be started 2 expansions earlier.

I want to say something before i go on with my post, and that is I have no intention on changing to a male Viera or any other race. That being said I have no objection for the to be added. I'm not too familiar with the lore, but I know they don't leave the forest , but the devs could maybe add a reason? Maybe like a fire, or somehow a primal got summoned and they had to leave? Again i have no desire to change races, but I wish you guys the best of luck!

As I said I could make the same type of thread, just because if goes 400+ pages doesn't mean everyone agree's.

its like claiming pizza from roundtable is the best ever just because 1000 people showed up to try it doesn't mean they all leave with the same opinion.

Most people from the game don't even come to post on the forums.

To say they all agree in the game is just overstatement.

Actually, I think a lot of people would want to play as dogs. Like lupin or something. More than birds, that's for sure!

Seriously just what are you even trying to say? Do you think everyone can agree on something? They said no more races, but they also said maybe the missing genders. Accept it, or you could make a thread for s bird race and see how many ppl want it

Different customers have different expectations out of the game and are free to cease being customers or reduce purchases if it no longer meets their needs.

I honestly grow tired of many people being extremely aggresive towards someone because they want something that they don't.

Is like all the people that since they got what they wanted (female viera) now they tell everyone that wants male viera that its never going to happen because of x and y
