But it's not.
Fran's armor is unique and iconic to Fran.
Other Viera in XII (and by-extension the Tactics Advanced series) don't wear that outfit. The only ones that come close are the Wood Warders in Eruyt Village and Krjn from Clan Centurio.
It feels more like either we're cosplaying as Fran or Fran isn't that special of a character here in XIV and is just part of the Viera-crowd.

Fran's outfit looks extremely close to FFTA and FFTA2's viera non-job outfit. If we call that "starter gear" then the FFTA and FFTA2 starter gear only differs from what Fran wheres with added sleeves and a chain bodice sort of deal. If we got that as starter gear but not Fran's and Fran's was added to the mogstation, then I'm sure it would upset some people. In addition to that, Fran's outfit is already in the game as an asset so that's ultimately why it got used.

I think the main reason modding is essentially "forbidden" in these types of games is because it could potentially give those players unfair advantages over others, same with botting. That and it kinda ruins the spirit of multiplayer gaming, at least in my opinion.

I sort of get that, just don't totally agree with respect to glamour mods. Most games I play on console so I don't have access to mods there anyway. Most aren't multiplayer and in cases where other people can mod and I can't I've been framing it as a kind of fun challenge to accomplish as much as possible within limits for design. Still love seeing what other people can come up with, but I get the sense sometimes people get bitter and jealous instead.

I heard about the license pull but not the in-house dubbing. Honestly more power to them. As much of a mess as it's been if this is an eye-opener about what's going on that's something at least. That plus dishonest people being held to account and innocent people finding support. The public should be receiving transparency in the near future at any rate, which hopefully can help prevent further nonsense.

Also, I hope this stuff was reassuring at least to some degree! These situations can be alarming but I think people across the board are realizing it's gotten too crazy and miserable for all involved.

So far Western media isn't entirely borked. We've still got a few beacons of hope in the different industries and I hope saner heads will prevail in the long run.

I wouldn't say jealousy exactly, maybe for some people, but it's more of a ruining of a fun experience. It'd be like playing GTA5 Online and someone keeps killing you over and over and you can't fight back because they've got invincibility. Something like that wouldn't be fun. As for glamour mods: I could see overlooking those as long as it didn't affect other people. In the case of single player games no-one cares if you cheat in those because they're soley for your own entertainment.

I hope it happens soon because I just watched a video today about how this incident is spilling over into the YouTube sphere and a certain 'Tuber is being harassed. The people involved are even going after that person's kid. These people are disturbed and they need to be stopped.

I got my hands on a game engine off of Steam and I've been sitting on it because the idea of using it seems daunting. Where have I said I wanted "Bikini armor" which this isn't. Fran wears a full leotard with the stomach cut out and she has a piece of cloth covering it. Aside from it also being *armored.* That's not a Bikini, so when you decide to think for me, please *think harder.*

I didn't decide to have her in the game. Ypshi P and the team decided to use her due to FFXII's PS4 upgraded HD rerelease gave them access to an HD, current gen level sprite to use in FFXIV without having to remesh anything.

They HAVE to cut corners because SquarEnix gives them next to nothing as a functioning work budget since all the Higerups in the company regard XIV as just a revenue battery for other more deserving projects. On top of that, you are not going to see anything else related to Dalmasca in in this game since the 24 man raids in that area have concluded and the point of it was fanservice for thefans of the Ivalice Alliance and Tactics series of games. Like how the coming 24 man raids are going to be for fans of Drakengard and Nier

I don't know if it's been brought up elsewhere in this thread (and I really, really cba to go back and look through everything), but I'm just musing over the possiblity that this could indeed be why we've seen the fan fest viera clad in this outfit. Meaning, it was there already, so easiest to use in a pinch; it may not be intended to be a starter outfit at all at this point. Their starter outfit might end up being different, it just wasn't ready in time for the reveal.

If that was the case, then it could become a reward outfit maybe for Dancer gear, or helping buns out with bun stuff or something. With it being so iconic, according to lots of people in this thread and probably elsewhere, it's got to be up there with the Squall/Cloud/Zidane outfits we can all have regardless of gender. This would be great if treated the same!

It's a current asset because Fran was wearing it when they released Orbonne Monastery in 4.4. So yes, its easier to just make her outfit the racial starting gear then designing a whole new outfit for Veira, since it saved the team Time, Money and most of all manpower.
