Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

Lots of people on both sides want their respective race (Viera and "beast" race). If they released Hrothgar males and females, they would have pissed off everyone who wanted Viera. If they had released Viera males and females, they would have pissed off everyone who wanted a real "beast race" (not just a mostly human with animal ears attached).

SE and Yoshida were in a completely lose-lose situation. No matter what they did they would piss a lot of people off. So they split the difference and made the most popular of both options. That is the decision that would satisfy the most amount of people.

Are you referring to the fact that they might make the missing genders in the future? Yes, that's true. But they might also not be able to, so he's not promising anything.

The fact of the matter is they were only able to make a single male and single female race, and since making both genders of a single race would have pissed off an entire LARGE group of players, they chose to split the difference and chose the option that satisfied the most amount of people.

i can guarantee if they had just released hrothgar or viera with both genders would not have been such a big deal as it is now

people did want a beast like race but most of them also figured the dream is dead just with how ff14 is made and would have moved on
if we got Hrothgar we would have gotten a wheres viera thread and would have moved on and migrated back to the viera support thread

If we had just got Viera, we'd never see Hrothgar.
If we had just got Hrothgar, we'd have never seen Viera.
By getting one of each and causing this backlash, we have a real chance of unlocking the other gender for each race in 6.0

Therefore this decision was more beneficial for the future of the game as a whole.

Agreed. I think adding male hrothgar and female viera was the best decision they could have made. This also opens up the possibility for the future addition of male viera and female hrothgar. I'm happy for the people who wanted a beast race like hrothgar. We just have to be patient, and show our support for female hrothgar and male viera in a positive way.

Sorry, but I'm calling BS on this. With the concept art released of Viera a long time back, as well as Fran appearing in the raid content, there would have been fire and brimstone raining down on these forums far worse than anything that has happened for lack of genders.
