Give us majestic cat beast ladies!
Not for me. I can't play as male. I've tried. I would love to play this race, but I would not keep a male character. I even tried male Tarus back in FFXI, but nope. Maybe that says something about me, but it is what it is.
I hope this happens, as it's the only way I'd play the race. They had time to make 1 race (male and female), but players wanted 2. So they had two choices:
1) Make male and female Hrothgar
or
2) Make male Hrothgar and female Viera
Male and female Viera was never on the table because they have no references for male Viera (so it would make their work that much harder).
So since Viera were very popular and they already had to have Fran for the 24 man content, they decided on option 2.
Yoshida has said that if they have the time and resources, and if enough people want them to the make the remaining genders, they will. But he doesn't make any promises because he isn't sure if they'll have the time and resources.
I'm not so good at drawing animal heads but I wanted to give female Hroths another go now that we know what the dudes look like ^^
(Also I haven't posted in this thread before so heck yea big lion ladies woo)
I agree. If it's such a big deal for developers to make two genders, then perhaps only do one race at a time? If the race requires males and females to exist, then both genders should be playable.
I've read up on Viera and I know that both Male and Female are required to make an offspring.. and I am assuming the same is true for Hrothgar. Therefore both genders should be playable.

Lots of people on both sides want their respective race (Viera and "beast" race). If they released Hrothgar males and females, they would have pissed off everyone who wanted Viera. If they had released Viera males and females, they would have pissed off everyone who wanted a real "beast race" (not just a mostly human with animal ears attached).
SE and Yoshida were in a completely lose-lose situation. No matter what they did they would piss a lot of people off. So they split the difference and made the most popular of both options. That is the decision that would satisfy the most amount of people.
i don't think so Yoshi saying this is the last time is never set in stone.Seriously?

Not sure what you're talking about, as your response doesn't make any sense in regard to my post.
Are you referring to the fact that they might make the missing genders in the future? Yes, that's true. But they might also not be able to, so he's not promising anything.
The fact of the matter is they were only able to make a single male and single female race, and since making both genders of a single race would have pissed off an entire LARGE group of players, they chose to split the difference and chose the option that satisfied the most amount of people.
