I'm gonna remix that but in a way you probably already heard too - a lot of people who unsub over these things don't come tooting their horns on the forums. They just leave.

Don't need too but most here are wise to the unsub card used to push an agenda. This game will have record subs come xpac.

Why bother making new races, then? By your logic, the people who were here until now will continue to be here with or without Viera of any gender, and with or without Hroth.

People were fine with it. People who had been playing for a long time had no new expectations of a new race until now. Yoshi said Au Ra would be the last race to be added to the game. So when Viera were announced it was a complete surprise to everyone. And Hrothgar being added is an even bigger surprise. Two new races when he said no more new races. But even if they weren't added i don't think it would have made or break the game.

Also you are grasping at straws when you said that we shouldn't request anything. Quality of life improvements can always be added. Things to improve the game can always be added. Depending on who you ask a new race being added to the game could be seen as a hindrance.

I think your statement of new players joining solely for the expectation of male viera and then unsubbing is very weak.

By that logic there's also no need to listen to any player request because they're supposedly doing just fine anyway, other than people who couldn't be satisfied anyway - but both Viera and Hroths are in the game in any capacity because people asked for them.
And if it's not meant to draw in new customers, then... why? Sounds like a waste of resources, especially when people have been clamoring for better character creation options for years.

Because there are people who'd pay for fantasia to change races or change facial features from existing players. The second most sold item on Mogstation is Phial of Fantasia. A new player would have to pay for the base game+the expansions if they wanted to play that race. And I doubt that a good chunk that can be considered a loss to SE would do that. If the demand for new races was considered profitable to SE, they would it. But they would reach a point where it becomes impossible to gain profit from the cost associated with having more races, and hence why we're not getting a new race after Viera and Hrothgar.

New people who ware only interested in races, are not the target audience of the game, since races are not the core content of FFXIV, else we'd get a new race every now and then not just based on profitable demand. Just check these trailers for the free trial that they make to draw new people to the game. Are they focusing on races? Nope. Even HW one that had Au ra had no mention of them.

As you can see from the trailers, the core focus is on MSQ, dungeons, raids, etc. since that's what the majority of people are interested in.

In part. But we've already seen posts from people who joined the game because they heard Viera was coming, only to be disheartened by it lacking males. That can really make the new car smell wear off quick for some people.

I haven't certainly seen them but I HAVE seen people wanting to join the game because of Gunbreaker, tons of people in fact.

I personally haven't seen people wanting to join because of viera but I wouldn't doubt it, but if they're joining for viera I'm pretty sure its for female viera as their were no male viera's in any FF game.

I'm just happy that they said they'd review it and shall be hoping that means that the missing genders will be added in at some time in the future, probably through patches like when they added in NIN and BLU. It sucks that they didn't launch with them (or at least save ONE race to pad out the NEXT expansion, but when life deals you lemons and etc). I do think that some folks are rather.. dramatic with the whole "I'm UNSUBBING!" but hey it's their money, they can do whatever they want with it. If they wanna unsub, it doesn't affect me and I wish them the best. If anything needs to stop it's this whole antagonistic attitude towards people who keep mocking those who are paying customers and are expressing (hopefully in a respectful manner) their opinions about SE trying to sell them a product.

Not to mention I found that whole "Buy fantasia!" in the end of Yoshi's speech to be a little off putting given how surprising/upsetting the news was to folks (not everyone, but certainly a large number looking at these forums).

I would hope a free fantasia will be part of the expansion download but I suppose that remains to be seen. It'll definitely not be well received if people have to buy them given we got one free for aura.
