PETITION: Regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam Version (Mar. 8)

Was worried this would get lost in the sea of outrage over the gender locking issue. Glad to see it returning as a topic. I have yet to see anything from Square further on this topic either? Supposedly we were to hear by the end of this month which is in 3 days or so. Hopefully, this means they've seen the feedback and are rethinking it.

They wrote this at 13th Mart Update:

Due to a confirmed bug, implementation that was tentatively scheduled for late March will now be delayed until April or after. We will let you know as soon as a date is confirmed.

Yeah if they implement it the same way as ESO without giving us the option to convert our keys or buy non-Steam keys that is a deal breaker for me. I'd completely unsub the first time anything bad happened.

This so much. I just want to buy a regular windows key on my account. Had a similar convo with my husband. Not sure what i'm going to do if there is connectivity issues. Starting a new account is incredibly daunting but it might be what I have to do if it's that bad. Hoping it's /not/ that bad but we'll have to see.

You wouldn't have to start a new account but you would have to buy another copy of the game. It'd be more work to start another account for absolutely no reason.

Nope, you would have to start a new FFXIV account. You can't have a Windows non-Steam and a Steam licence on the same account.

You can't add a PC key if you already have a Steam one. We would have to start an entirely new account if this were not changed.

Exactly, which is why we're asking "Ok, will you let us add a Windows key to our Steam account then to give us access to FFXIV without requiring Steam?" (but still allowing Steam options, potentially allowing SE to double dip us for expansions, I would be up for buying the expansions on both for example, since while I like using Steam, I'd also have the non-Steam for backup). Since those of us with Steam keys, our account type is defined as a "Steam" account type, with those not on Steam for defined as a different account type. Which is why we can't add the licence, it's down to our account type.

Nope. Wrong. Steam and PC cannot exist on the same account. Which is one of the reason why this thread is here. Steam users just want to be able to buy the PC version on the same account.

So yes, as it stands now, today, I need a new account
