They Legit started working on Viera and Hrothgar shortly after the release of SB and they only got to a finished enough state to show them recently ... and we STILL gotta wait for them to work on head gear post June.

How in the world is it good for the game?

I mean, I hate viera and would have liked them to just not be implemented at all, but even I'm not so selfish to not realize that they existing is good for the game since they are a heavily requested feature.

Exclusivity, on the other hand, is rarely good for game health in any form.

Adding races is not only time and resources intensive but also puts permanently ongoing strain on the dev team.

They literally said that this is it, this is all they can do ... because with their current work flow they only have the means to do this AND still be able to push out content at the pace they have been doing so far.

Our yearly event this time is gonna reward you with ... a crappy looking DRK sword and a Cul 2nd hand glam cause we're too busy!" or them deciding to gate off even more glam for the Mog Station to offset the cost.

But i think the point that Reivaxe is trying to make is, there is no point in crying over it.

Whining and raging won't change anything. They literally couldn't do it because of lack of resources.

And no matter how much you pout and whine, it won't change that. People whining and pouting won't suddenly give SE more resources to give them what they want.

You can be upset.. But you need to understand that with what they were given, this is the best they could do.

It sucks for those that wanted male viera/female ronso. And i hope sometime in the future we get them.

But unsubbing literally doesn't effect or change anything. You actually just make it worse and harder to get what you want.

I'm not trying to guilt anyone to staying subbed, but that's just the reality of it.

All those people unsubbing, and saying "I'll sub back when we get male viera" aren't helping their cause in the slightest.

And that's fine, again I'll reiterate something I've said multiple times, I don't think it's something worth unsubbing over for genderlocks by themselves, but I think people have that right to.

I still don't agree with equating feedback to pouting and whining, I think that's a fallacy because bad publicity does mean a lot in this day and age, bad publicity pretty much killed 1.0 even after it was fixed, and has made fallout 76 a terrible laughingstock, again a lot of those games had their own issues beforehand that made them much much worse than XIV just from a gameplay perspective but without feedback and outrage, I mean what else would have happened? look at destiny, game was terrible at launch but any criticism was met with "stop complaining, it's fine" from avid members of the fanbase that drove people away from actually playing the game.

That's my issue, it just feels like a lot of people, this isn't directed at you, in this community just equate anything negatively said to whining and I think that's bad. Look at bowmage, the amount of times people said it was terrible pre HW launch and met with being dismissed and told to "wait" before they made an opinion was staggering.

I do agree there are people who complain with a smack of entitlement about genderlocks, but I disagree that all feedback is just complaining to complain or screaming into a vaccum and should not exist on the forums. Should threads be spammed non-stop? no, but they should exist and be scrutinized on the merit of their argument the anecdotal dislikes you may have with someone personal. The dev team are prone to listen and I respect that, I hated diadem, both versions but I respect them at least trying to overhaul it, I hated anemos and pagos but I respect them for giving his pyros.

I don't think anyone should be dismissive of a GENERAL set of feedback on any topic because it discourages people and sets an air of complacency and stagnation on the forums that it doesn't need.

I hope they add the missing genders. I dont think it is good for FFXIV to have gender locked races, I wouldnt want it to look like those cheap korean MMO, FFXIV can do better.
So SE dont listen to these haters, they will find something else to hate on. Haters gonna hate, like always.

Doesn't matter who you think is to blame, it's just the facts.

Much like how this game's very foundation is based on outdated, bad spaghetti code and practices. MMO Games made around the same time as ARR have better approaches to gear and character customization. Modern games have FAR better systems in place. So yeah, the amount of time and effort they put into new gear to match all races is likely far more excessive than it should be already and that's something that wont change until they do a fundamental reworking to the very core of these systems.

People have been wanting Viera forever like crazy and people have been wanting a beastly race for a LONG time. Game needed the Hrothgar, devs wanted the Hrothgar and fans wanted the Beastly race as well ... and they only think they can do 1 set of female/ male. So like it or not but this is the best solution for all of us. You can call the races gimped but the Viera are as they have always been depicted and the Hrothgar are rand new so we dont know anything lore wise for them.

Not sure what you think I was saying, as in that post I was pointing out how they can't just Plop the other genders down outta no where mid expansion and how someone could prefer the devs not put all their time into making and supporting more races for the few who want them instead of actual content for everyone.

That's my issue though, they could have they had the resources to they just didn't want the feedback of not having viera, that's what it all boils down to for me, and that's my issue. They obviously wanted to add in the hrothgar but chose to cave to the viera demand, no matter how you look at this, this was not done to please everyone, it was done to divide feedback as much as possible while also hyping up the expansion with the tagline "new races", again my issue with your post is that you state things as if they are objective facts.

This was not the best solution because people who have wanted a full beastial race, do not have them, and people who wanted to finally see male viera, do not have them. Before you say "you can't please everyone" this was literally an option meant to please everyone and there is still divisive feedback whether you call it vocal minority or not. The issue is with the way it was handled, it should have been expressed early on clearly that male viera would not be added.

I'm not going to argue with you about genders taking up added in content because we don't know the teams work schedule, who is on what and what gets what priority. We don't even know what content we're getting besides a 24 man, 8 man and a 5.0 eureka, I think it's ridiculous to act as if they would put any of that content behind for models or models would take up that content's cycle, especially when content like eureka and diadem and even BLU have been pushed back a patch for completely separate reasons. Saying content would be canceled or pushed back as if it is unprecedented is just a disingenuous argument meant to make it seem technically unfeasible.

I call them gimped because for all of their sacrifices they can't even equip helmets or glasses to be added later, they are gimped in every way of the word and it came at the cost of adding in "two" races instead of just one.

They might make the missing genders in the future, but they aren't promising anything. They aren't saying "no, we're not going to make them", but it takes a substantial amount of work resources, so they can't guarantee they'll be able to make them.

They could indeed rework their ilevel system so they dont dumb excessive amounts of gear every patch. That would ease down the pain of the modelling team which has to go through it. Beside, thats why we get reskinned gear, I suppose. They are just hurting themselves by creating new gear over and over again.
