An official poll is the only way to do it as only a small number of players actually use the forums, and probably more use other mediums like Reddit. Any unofficial poll is pretty much going to show a biased result, therefore it's an incorrect representation of players' opinions on the subject.

I wouldn't claim "most", but there's no denying it's a significant enough issue for NA that it warrants a response.

In general I really wish they would stop gender-locking content. Not just races but items as well.

Just to add on to what you were saying about other mediums like Reddit. Anybody could use Reddit, not just active FF14 players. So a random person that doesn't even play the game could use the FF14 reddit. So if there was a poll on Reddit, it would be heavily skewed since anybody could add their two sense.

What they should do is take a hint from what old school runescape does. They have an in-game poll so only active players can vote.

Hence why it's best to direct the votes to the official means.
I think you're making an assumption: that people who don't like genderlocking in general therefore must strongly oppose/oppose genderlocking in the specific instances of mViera/fHrothgar.
People can be against/neutral to genderlocking in general, but may be for/be neutral to it in these certain cases. It looks like a few decided just that, hence lesser strongly oppose/oppose votes in mViera/FHrothgar.
You cannot assume that in general means always and in any case.

I feel like upon finishing the main scenario quest before a new expansion a poll with various questions on the direction of the game should be offered to the player. That way the Devs could get an actual idea of what their active players felt about the previous expansion and the things people want them to focus on in the future. Whether or not they decide the feedback is relevant for the direction they decide to take for different topics, having the information can't hurt regardless.

I don't think you understand how this works. There's never a gender Lock they never had the time or resources to make the design or models.

Hahahahahaha, that would be hilarious! (And then go back to ignoring these complaints and focusing on actual in-game content.)
Even better They announce that bunny boys will be available on the mogstation. Then when the day is almost up and everyone has been whipped into rabid frenzy they say "APRIL FOOLS"

You do realize they're more apt to respond if a single thread has a lot a posts then if there's 50 smaller posts about the same godsdamn thing, right?

Let's look at the numbers in more depth then.

It seems like only 92% of those that are strongly opposed to gender-locking actually stayed true to that in both Viera and Hrothgar cases. Some of those that didn't even jumped to the highest extreme of being strongly in favor.

If we look at those that were only opposed to gender-locking, those that jumped to being strongly opposed are 9% in the case of Viera and 16% in the case of Horthgar. Only 50% in both races remained on the same response and 30% jumped down to being neutral, while the rest turned out to be in favor.

It's an odd term. It's a genderlock in that you can only have one gender but implies it's keeping you from something that exists. They exist lore wise, but as you said, they are not fully designed and implemented. People seem to think they can just flip a switch and let you have them.

Though I think they should have both genders it seems it can't happen right away.
