How in the world is it good for the game?

I mean, I hate viera and would have liked them to just not be implemented at all, but even I'm not so selfish to not realize that they existing is good for the game since they are a heavily requested feature.

Exclusivity, on the other hand, is rarely good for game health in any form.

But here's the issue, Viera lore is ivalice, female only. Males are NEVER seen (and were never plan) aside for mating and only in the woods/jungle, away from praying eyes in a protected area hidden by a strong barrier accessible only to female viera. Now that viera is finally coming to FF14, people want more (like always from this rabbid fanbase, just look at china/korea costume topics) out of something that doesn't exist. Yea sure the race could be born in a year or 2, with new lore and patch and whatever, but right now, it doesn't exist.

It doesn't hurt the game in any way, lots of games have gender locked race/gender or CLASS to specific, people live with it. Now on the other day...FF14 fanbase..they want everything at the cost of something else (which will obviously happen), they're never happy. This fanbase is just baffling.

Uh that's not a fair response to criticism or requests by fans, in any sort of medium. Saying that you should at base accept everything that is given to you by a developer as being perfect and spot on is not how an ever evolving game like an MMO improves. There are MULTIPLE problems with your statement that doesn't even involve male viera.

Eureka was meh at launch and pagos was downright unplayable when it dropped. This was AFTER it had been delayed by a patch mind you, BLU is all but irrelevant content after it's release with promises of "new and unique gameplay" coming 3 months at the very least AFTER the new expansion drops. Spell speed hackers are to my knowledge STILL a thing in PVP, Bow mage in heavensward, DIADEM and don't even get me started on east coast lag after the data center move. These aren't even counting the host of problems at launch with SB where players couldn't even load into zones or finish story quests.

I agree that feedback should be consolidated into ONE thread, that this isn't something someone should cancel their sub over(even though they have that right) and that people who take this as a crusade against sexism and homophobia are batty, but please don't pretend as if XIV is some sort of entitled community that only complains unfairly about the developers. It's just not true, period, the amount of patience people have shown when dealing with serious core issues with the game is just saintly and I commend the dev team for just as well ADDRESSING these issues rather than sweep them underneath the rug.

Giving feedback ≠ Complaining to complain.

It's just the same way avid destiny fans complained how barren the game was at launch or how terrible mass effect 3's endings were only to be called "entitled baby gamers" it just reeks of corporate boot licking. Just lapping up anything given to you just makes you sound like a drone, not a person. Again this isn't even about viera but your entire argument equates any sort of dislike of something implemented as being a whiner which just isn't a constructive mindset to have at all.

Honestly, if the lore of Ivalice was that important, why was the timeline of the Ivalice events changed to be backwards? Why was Ovelia just a footnote, and Delita not in character? Why were Ashe and Rasler twins and not husband and wife? Why not ask Matsuno, who already said that he had no input in implementing the race in the first place, outside of the stuff he's already written? FFXIV borrows from other games and changes it as it sees fit. Nothing is sacred.

By the account of lore, civilization-advanced Ivalice races aside from humans are extinct by the time Tactics rolled around. By the same token, if they really wanted to keep it to the lore, they would have never introduced male Miqo'te, and if they wanted the spirit of an imported race, the same would apply to female Roegadyn.

Not necessarily. It could easily be worked on in pieces then added halfway through the expansion. Only time will tell.

They Legit started working on Viera and Hrothgar shortly after the release of SB and they only got to a finished enough state to show them recently ... and we STILL gotta wait for them to work on head gear post June.

Adding races is not only time and resources intensive but also puts permanently ongoing strain on the dev team.

They literally said that this is it, this is all they can do ... because with their current work flow they only have the means to do this AND still be able to push out content at the pace they have been doing so far.

In a prefect world we could get more everything. We would get a Tank/ Healer/ DPS every expansion. Relic final forms would always look AMAZING and the MB wouldn't be crap design.
But this aint that. Adding too much strain on the dev team means we suffer in some area. Be it fuller and worse gear designs being released or more non-sense like "Hey, It's Valentines Days! Our yearly event this time is gonna reward you with ... a crappy looking DRK sword and a Cul 2nd hand glam cause we're too busy!" or them deciding to gate off even more glam for the Mog Station to offset the cost.

That's SE's fault for not allocating resources properly COUGHXVSTILLGETTINGSUPPORT2YEARSAFTERRELEASECOUGH not the fanbase for actually expecting full quality on a project, again my biggest issue is the dev team not just releasing full hrothgar is that's where their PASSION was and just saying that. Instead we get "two" gimp'd races that can't even use full gear at launch, this isn't me being entitled I'm just disappointed that we're two expansions in and this game is STILL suffering from resource issues.

I know it's the reality of the situation, and I accept that but I don't think that should equate to a free get out of jail free card from criticism for this still being an issue several years into this game.

I want to make this thread to remind SE that a majority of their VOCAL playerbase not including those who don't say anything or dont care wants genderlock to be removed as soon as possible, and I want to use this thread to keep reminding them about it. Please SE, just make an official response soon. It's getting quite annoying to have to wait so much for you to say that we will get genderlock lifted

It's easy to say you're against genderlocking, because it's a limitation.

Make a poll that pits male Viera and female Hrothgar, against female Viera and male Hrothgar, and see how that works out.
The limitation was a compromise for more variety.

you could do that with any of the races and have a clear winner tbh doesnt mean we should delete the less popular gender
